Two hearts beat as one Jew’s Harp experience fun

In Atayal culture, the Jew’s harp is a musical instrument used to convey messages in place of language; the instrument is mainly used to express feelings of love. The heart-shaped Jew’s harp has been developed by Wulai Atayal Museum; in the Two Hearts Beat as One Jew’s Harp Experience Fun course participants are taught how to make a heart-shaped Jew’s harp. In the making of the Jew’s harp, visitors can not only learn more about the Atayal culture but they can also present the Jew’s harp to someone as a token of their affection.

80% of the working population of Pinglin is a tea farmer, with tea plantations covering almost 1000 hectares of the district. Its abundant natural resources also give it great potential as a destination for tourism and leisure. Pinglin Tea Museum was established with four main goals: to increase cultural quality, to provide education, to promote the growth of the local economy, and to serve as a place for leisure.

The museum was established in 1997; due to the dampness and moisture of the local climate, maintenance is difficult and the building is now dilapidated, with many facilities damaged. To provide better service and a more comfortable environment to visitors, the museum will be closed for refurbishment on June 1st, 2014. When it reopens, it will be a simple and bright space with the look of a tea plantation, minimizing the distance between the local industry and ecology. Please look forward to our reopening (time to be announced at a later date).
