Can you either complete this circuit or create your own for yourself or someone in your family?

White Rose Maths: Summer Term - Week 4 (w/c 11th May) Lesson 4 Finding fractions of amounts will require you to use your multiplication and division strategies. If you have been practising on TTRS then you will notice that you will be working efficiently through these questions. MyMaths: Y4 Fractions of amounts The reason we are asking you to recap Year 4 learning is because it is so important to understand how to find fractions of an amount. We will be building on this in a few weeks!

Two of your targets you need to meet in English are:

Speak audibly and fluently

Gain and maintain the interest of the listener So today’s activity is for you to video an audition tape! You could:

- Read a poem - Read an extract from a book - Re-enact part of a film

Ask somebody to record it and send it to us on Seesaw! Think about how you will engage your audience. You may also like to include some footage of you singing.

TUES WALT multiply and divide by powers of 10 WALT ask relevant questions VIPERS:

Draw a picture to help you remember the meaning of each of these words. Also write a definition in your own words too: bamboozled gibbering prodigy villainous topple civilisations Can you write a small paragraph using every word?

PSHEE

In the villages of Guatemala in South America, children tell their worries to a small doll and then tuck it under their pillow at night to take their worries away. We know that sometimes talking about our worries is really important. Can you make a worry doll to help you talk about your worries? You will need at least 2 sticks and something to decorate with. E.g. old material (maybe old socks!), pipe cleaners, stickers, paper etc. The pictures below have used wool, but it is up to you!

Task 1 – Daily Ten. Choose Level 6,

Multiplication, Up to x12. 5 second intervals! Task 2 – Use the place value chart and the

digits ‘2’, ‘5’ and ‘0’ to explore multiplying and dividing the number 25 by powers of 10. Task 3 – make a decimal slider! Use the

template below. If unsure, look at the pictures on the flipchart to help you. Task 4 – Use your decimal slider to help you

answer the questions on page 4 and 5 of the flipchart. Task 5 – On page 6 of the flipchart is your final

task. Can you find what number each shape represents? Will you push yourself and have a go at the challenge? This requires lots of reasoning!

Task 3 – Look at the money question (page 3 on

the flipchart) I have modelled below. Can you use this as a WAGOLL to calculate the other two questions on the flipchart? Task 4 – Follow the instructions on page 4 and 5

of the flipchart to help you answer the questions. Task 5 – Spend 5 minutes having a go at the

algebra challenge on page 6 of the flipchart. How many possibilities can you find? There is an example to help you! Task 6 – Choose 3 of the problem cards on

page 7 of the flipchart to complete. Can you use any reasoning?

you have gathered together your evidence, you are going to present your own view on Artemis’ character. Once you have completed today’s tasks you need to read: Pages 4 - 8

Remember, if you have any questions you can ask us on Seesaw.

Artemis’ normal day would look like?’ It surely would not be like mine and not even like yours! Use evidence from the text to support your answer.

Below are some ‘matching cards’ about the Mayan number system. Can you cut them out, mix them up and match them up again? Can you find the pattern for how their number system works? What do you think would happen when they get to 100?

THURS WALT select an efficient addition strategy WALT draw inferences from a film trailer VIPERS:

From what you have read so far, you are going to summarise what you know about Artemis in to 3 sentences. Now, create a comic strip version of a story you think he would be the main character in. What would you call it?

FRENCH

Today’s learning is all about ice cream! Below you have an ice cream menu. Can you figure out what the flavours of the ice creams are? Use the images and cognates to help you! Task 1

Can you sort the ice creams in to masculine and feminine? Task 2

Can you create your own conversation based on the example below?

Task 1 – Daily Ten. Choose Level 6,

Multiplication, Up to x12. 5 second intervals!

Task 2 – Work through the mental addition

activities on page 2 and 3 of the flipchart.

Task 3 – Look at the question on page 4 of the

flipchart and my WAGOLL of how to answer it. Then complete the question at the bottom.

Task 4 – Have a go at the missing numbers

problem on page 5 of the flipchart. This is tricky but you CAN do it. Start in the ones column and complete just like a normal addition.

Task 5 – Below your timetable you will find the

set of activities from page 6 of the flipcharts. Work through as many as you can. There are missing number, reasoning and investigations to have a go at!

Today, you are going to watch the trailer for the “Artemis Fowl” movie that is coming out in a couple of weeks and compare it to the ideas you had started to form from what you have read so far. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fl2r3Fwxz_o Once you have watched the trailer you need to work through the activities in the workbook, thinking about how the film’s portrayal of Artemis differs from the description of him in the book. You may need to watch the trailer a few times to help you think about all of the different elements when you are completing the box diagram. Once you have completed today’s tasks you need to read: Pages 9 - 11

FRI WALT select an efficient subtraction method WALT consider author viewpoints VIPERS:

What is going to happen next? Think about what we may learn about Artemis, where he goes, what he does and where his adventure may take him. You may want to use the blurb to help! Either write your ideas or draw!

Have a look at the images of Mayan weaving. They use bright and vibrant colours. You will be paper weaving over the next few weeks so today you will need to create 10 coloured strips of paper, which are 15 cm long. What colours will you choose? What art medium will you use? Pencil? Pen? Pastel? Think about which colours complement each other and which contrast. Use the images to help you decide.

Task 1 – Daily Ten. Choose Level 6,

Multiplication, Up to x12. 5 second intervals!

Task 2 – Work through the mental subtraction

activities on page 2, 3 and 4 of the flipchart.

Task 3 – Look at the WAGOLL for a multistep

problem on page 5 of the flipchart. Use this to answer the question on page 6.

Task 4 – On page 7 of the flipchart, look at the

WAGOLL for subtracting decimals from an integer. Use this to answer the question.

Task 5 – Have a go at the tasks below!

Today, you are going to watch an interview with Eoin Colfer (https://www.scottishbooktrust.com/authors-live-on-demand/eoin-colfer) who wrote the books. You are then going to use the information you gain from the interview to think about his and others’ viewpoints on the story and the characters. This is a template to make a decimal slider. Do NOT cut the dotted lines but in fact the vertical

lines instead. You will need a strip of paper that you can put through the middle – it will need to

be the width of the vertical lines. To use this, you will need to put your strip of paper in the slider,

write your digits in the write place value columns and then slide to the left or right depending on

whether you are multiplying or dividing. Remember your placeholders!

Here is a grid of four "boxes":

You must choose four different digits from 1−9 and put one in each

box. For example:

This gives four two-digit numbers:

52 (reading along the 1st row)

19 (reading along the 2nd row)

51 (reading down the left hand column)

29 (reading down the right hand column)

In this case their sum is 151.

Try a few examples of your own. Is there a quick way to tell if the total is going to be even or odd?

Your challenge is to find four different digits that give four two-digit

numbers which add to a total of 100.

How many ways can you find of doing it?

£3.00 – 80p = £2.20

£2.20 ÷ 2 = £1.10 Each sandwich is £1.10

Last week:197+232+164 = 593

This week: 309+265 = 574

Difference: 593 – 574 = 19

I would use this method. Would you

do the same?

3 x 37 = 111

4,561 + 111 = 4,672

4,672 – 125 = 4,547

2 x 375 = 750

3 x 405 = 1,215
