Living in IIUI Hostels

ABSTRACT:

This report is on the problems faced by the students living in IIUI hostels. For this purpose we have conducted a survey and distributed questionnaires among the students. On the basis of this survey we got to know the problems faced by the students living in IIUI hostels. We found that the management of hostels is poor. The provost only pays attention towards those who have references and allocate seats to them only and others have to strive hard for accommodation.

INTRODUCTION:

Education is a vital process of the development of any society. It is our religious obligation to get knowledge. The students strive hard in order to get a valuable degree and for this purpose they leave their homes and get admissions in Universities that have some valuable degrees. So, the main problem faced by the students after getting admissions in the university which is far from their homes is the residence. This problem is major for females because of the restrictions. In IIUI hostels students face a lot of problems. The most important and major problem is the seat allocation. The management allocates seats to those who have some references or have links with the provost. The other problems are internal for instance; internet facilities are poor, hostel authorities do not provide us with the clean environment, the language of the wardens is vague and because of the issues between the wardens students have to suffer a lot. After conducting a survey from the students of IIUI hostels and collecting 20 samples of questionnaires these were the major problems which were found. In short, the management and hostel authorities have poor managing skills and they have to be improved for the future of this university.

Statement of the Problem:

The problems of the students living in the hostels of IIUI are notable. The issues of seats, internet facilities, mess bills, warden’s attitudes, and cleanliness are the problems which were highlighted by a survey.

Objectives of the Study:

Following were the main objectives of this study.

To identify the main problems of the students living in the hostels of IIUI.

To examine quantitatively the causes of the problems. To present long term solutions on the basis of the study to the

problems.

Research Methodology:

The research is being made by conducting a survey, taking interviews and distributing questionnaires among the students living in the hostels of IIUI.

Procedure:We went to the students and asked them to fill questionnaire. We gave them information about our report and develop their interest towards our topic. As they all live in hostel so, they show good response and we promise them to e-mail the result of the survey.

Analysis of the Problems of StudentsLiving in the Hostels of IIUI:

Poor ManagementThe provost and managerial authorities of hostels are poor. They allocate seats to those who have references and do not think about other’s situation or problem. This is because of the corruption which is quite common now- a- days. Everyone is engaged in politics of their own. They do not have feelings for others. Their only concern is the benefit which they will earn.

Poor Internet Facilities:The internet facilities provided by the authorities are not sufficient. The speed is slow and internet access is limited due to which students face delay in their projects and as a result teachers deduct marks from their assignments due to late submission. The cause of this problem is the poor IT management.

Mess Bills:The mess bill is being prepared by the attendance marked in the register. At the end of the month the bill is more than the attendance. The cause of this problem is the authority who calculates the bills and made amendments in the bills by their own and as a result the bills do not match the attendance.

Prayer Hall for Student’s Accommodation:Another important problem faced by the students of hostels is the prayer hall which is being used for student’s accommodation. The cause of this problem is smaller number of rooms and large number of students. In this room there is a lot of disturbance and students are unable to study in this environment. The management should think before taking these kinds of step.

Cleanliness:The washrooms in the hostels are not clean quite often. The place where dishes are being washed is full of water. The reason behind this is the gutters which are block and no one pays attention towards this problem. The cause of this problem is the lazy servants and poor management.

Students on Attachments:The students who are on attachments are not being allocated by a room till their last semester. They suffer a lot because of this issue. The cause of this problem is the poor provost and management. The students first agree to give attachments but as the time passes they starts teasing the students who are on attachments.

CONCLUSION:We can conclude from this report that the management of this hostel is poor and they are not taking steps to improve the conditions of this hostel and making this hostel a clean and unbiased place for the students.

Recommendations:

The Director should look after the provost and get the students accommodated.

The provost should fix this internet problem and provide students with sufficient internet.

The provost should look after the authority that calculates mess bill and does not let them make amendments.

The Director should improve the condition of these hostels and should not let provost accommodate large number of students in prayer hall. The prayer hall accommodation should be banned by the higher authorities and each student should be given a seat.

The wardens should look after the servants that whether they are fulfilling their duties or not and supervise their work.
