Read the story below and answer the questions that follow.

Koalas are found only in Australia. The word Koala means ‘no drink', and refers to the Koala's ability to go for days without water. Koala bears are more closely related to kangaroos than bears. Though a koala resembles a bear in its physical attributes, it is not even a distant relative of bears. Or in other words, koala bears and true bears are totally different from each other.          Koalas weigh about 15-20 pounds at maturity. At birth, a baby koala (called joey) is pink, furless and weighs about 1/5 of an ounce. After birth, a joey remains in its mother's pouch for nearly six months. As soon as the young koala comes out of the pouch, it stays on its mother's back or clings to the abdomen for another 6 months.         They have thick, woolly fur, which helps in maintaining body temperature under harsh environmental conditions. Also, the fur repels water during rains. Koala is an arboreal animal, meaning it spends its entire life on the eucalyptus tree trunks. The trees not only provide food for the koalas, but they are also a resting place for them. On some days, they sleep on the branches throughout the daytime, for more than 19 hours.

Monica studies at SK Nanga Machan, Kanowit. She is in Year 6 Red. Last Thursday, her class teacher, EncikSyamin told the class to prepare for Merdeka Day Celebration. He also informed the pupils there would be a competition among the classes. He asked the pupils to decorate the class with flags and pictures of prime ministers of Malaysia.

All the pupils of Year 6 Red were very excited. They were busy dividing the work. Monica wanted her class to win the competition so she told her classmates to do the best.

Monica and her friends hung many flags in the class. They also decorated the notice boards with pictures of the prime ministers and some information about them. EncikSyamin provided them with beautiful charts and slogans. Monica put a small flag on each desk in the class. The whole class was beautifully decorated.

During the assembly, everyone from Year 6 Red was surprised and happy when the headmaster announced the class as the overall winner. Monica went up the stage to receive a big trophy. EncikSyaminand her classmates were very proud because all their hard work paid off.
