Year 2: ‘My Learning Newsletter’ English Maths English task: In English, we have been enjoying our descriptive writing. We have discussed how we can include adjectives, verbs and different sentence starters to make our writing very exciting. This week, if you have access to the Internet, please visit https://www.literacyshed.com/takingflight.html and watch the video clip. If you aren’t able to access the video, please don’t worry as you will still be able to complete the activities. Please see slides 7-11 for some literacy activities involving writing descriptive pieces and a short story. Reading Task: Remember to try and read daily. Find a book in your house and take it outside into the bright sunshine to enjoy a nice read. You can also listen to David Walliams reading a story at 11AM daily on https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/. In Maths, we have been looking at developing our arithmetic and problem solving skills. This week, please complete the different activities (Slides 2-6). The activities include practise of arithmetic, some problem solving questions which will cover each operation and a fun maths activity to complete around your home. Remember to try to practise your number bonds daily by using coat hangers and pegs, your fingers, sweets etc. You can have an additional practise of number bonds to 10 by visiting https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Search.aspx?q=number+bonds+to+10 Remember to try and regularly practise your times tables by using your login for Times Table Rockstars. Science PSHE Last week, you started to have a look at our new topic of ‘Animals including Humans’. This week, we are going to consider the big question of ‘Do all animals hatch from an egg?’ Take a little look at slide 12 and consider whether the animals would be born or would hatch from an egg. Create two columns inside your jotters and write the animals names. Challenge: Research as many facts as you can about a lion and it’s cub. This week we are going to be thinking about how sometimes when we are feeling a little bit sad, we can make ourselves happier by thinking of things that make us feel happy. Please complete the ‘Happy Me Fact File’ by considering lots of different things which make you feel happy. Challenge: Draw a picture of you feeling happy. Remember to Keep Active!
