SafetyWithout exception our products are tested for application safety in accordance with laid down standards and our own regulations, which comple-ment the standards. Relevant legal requirements and safety regulations are also observed. Provided due care and attention is paid, the possibility of product-specific danger to the user may thus reasonably be excluded. Where products are used carelessly or incorrect ly, however, considerable
danger to persons and the environment may arise. For this reason, our cables must only be processed and /or used responsibly by trained electricians or specialists. This catalogue contains general information for the application of each product. Independent of such information, the application standards DIN VDE 0298 and DIN VDE 001 for cables will apply. Excerpts from these standards, as well as complementary selection
and application tables, design and installation guidelines, are contained in the tables in the appendix to this catalogue. Our machines and installation tools are where necessary desi-gned in accordance with the machine guidelines and display the CE identification mark. It must be noted, however, that our machines and installation tools must only be used by trained specialized personnel and for the purpose for which they
were designed. Copyright by U.I. Lapp GmbH. Reprinting or reproduction of the text or the illus-trations may be made only with written approval and with correct indication of source. Dear Business Associates
and Customers,
I am delighted to have this opportunity to present our latest catalogue: The world
of Lapp. Although we have kept the title Lapp orange, the catalogue itself is com-
pletely green in terms of sustainability, bearing for the first time the FSC (Forest Stew-
ardship Council) seal. This means that only paper from FSC-certified wood has been
used for printing, enabling us to contribute to the protection of our forests and to ac-
cept our ecological responsibility. After all, our catalogue has over 1,000 pages and
we print some 100,000 copies in German/English.
The large selection in our new catalogue is unique. It is clearly laid out to enable you
to quickly find the perfect products and systems for virtually any application.
In addition to our main markets, machine and plant engineering, automation
and measurement & control technology, you will also find an extensive range for
renewable energies. Our services are also impressive the web catalogue, the
cable and connector finder, order tracking or just-in-time delivery straight onto
the site, are just a few examples.
Despite the economic downturn, our company has succeeded in maintaining its
performance for you, our customers. We see ourselves as a reliable, powerful busi-
ness partner with innovative branded products and services to provide you with
ideal solutions for a critical competitive edge. After all, your success is our success.
Just browse through our catalogue for a fascinating journey of discovery through
the World of Lapp.
With best wishes,
Andreas Lapp
The World of Lapp is based in Stuttgart. This is where it all started for our company, which was founded in 1959 as U.I. LAPP KG (now U.I. LAPP GmbH). From its headquarters in Stuttgart we have determinedly evolved to become a global player with currently 16 production plants in Europe, Asia and America, 40 sales companies and more than 100 sales partners. The larger Lapp companies such as Russia, India, China, Canada and Mexico have their own warehouses The others are promptly supplied through our highperformance logistics centres. At our Lapp Centres we are also strongly committed to enhancing the knowledge of our employees and customers. After all, knowledge is the ink with which the future is written down.
At home in Stuttgart, but known all over the world
One of our most successful products is that of proximity to our customers. On the one hand, we practice intensive dialogue with designers and planners, manufacturers and users. This enables us to identify new requirements and trends at a much earlier stage, to quickly provide you with suitable solutions. Innovation leadership put into ac-tive practice.
On the other hand, proximity to our custom-ers really means something to us: our pres-ence extends all round the globe. As a reli-able partner on a local basis we support our customers in exploiting markets by provid-ing them with short delivery times and low logistics costs.

Ideas that make the world go round
Since 1957 we have registered more than 100 patents, and we carry a deliv-ery programme of more than 40,000 products, which are used wherever elec-trical energy is used to power, drive, light or control things. Most of this also happens out of sight. For example inside the Cheops pyramid in El Gza. LFLEX cables are used there to safeguard smooth operation of the air-conditioning units. We also equipped the K2 base camp at an altitude of 5100 metres. At -46 Celsius, we also clearly demon-strated that our products work even at the lowest of temperatures.
You will discover Lapp in up to 200 m long paper-making machines and in the 178 m high Singapore Flyer, the worlds most spec-tacular big wheel. We are also on-board the Transrapid train in Shanghai and in navy submarines diving deep below the sea. At the opera house in Beijing we made every-one very happy, and we toured the world recently with the Rolling Stones. We equipped international airports in London, Sofia and Munich with hundreds of kilome-tres of lines and we are out there listening inside one of the worlds largest radio tele-scopes, well beyond the frontiers of our own solar system. And we play our part in using sun, wind and other green energy sources more efficiently in the meantime Lapp is one of the leading partners to companies in the application fields of photovoltaics, wind power, biomass and fuel-cell technology.
An overview of our fields of application
Mechanical and systems engineering As suppliers, this is where we are tradi-tionally at home. Ever since we started out, our competence has concentrated on providing solutions for machines and systems. There can hardly be an indus-trial application anywhere that we have not already equipped in some way.

Economy and ecology are inextricably linked with each other. A company that handles its own resources sparingly, does this out of a feeling of solidarity with our natural resources. This consid-eration is firmly embedded in our corpo-rate philosophy. Our intention is to safe-guard the valuable source that nature represents. We have initiated many measures to support us here:
No halogensAll our brands provide halogen-free products, that in the event of fire do not release any toxic substances. Halogen-free products can also be more efficiently re-cycled.
No toxinsOur products and packaging do not contain any climate-polluting CFCs or asbestos. Apart from this, we do not use any lead-con-taining stabilizers in the production of ca-bles and lines.
No prohibited substancesOn the many pages contained in this cata-logue, you will often see the RoHS logo. All products that bear this logo do not con-tain any prohibited substances in accord-ance with EU Directive 2005/95/EG. An explanation is available in the catalogue ap-pendix on table T30.
No wasteOur production sites recycle most of the cable production residue, test and faulty productions. Plastic residue is also returned to the production cycle. Heat pumps, that are integrated into the production cooling process, supply us with hot service water.

Certificates, our international quality certificate
Almost all of our products are certified, as is our company. Certification is al-ways awarded by an independent au-thority. In doing so, all the quality-rele-vant factors are thoroughly examined, in particular, reliability, safety and any pos-sible danger, health-hazard or environ-mental aspects. Certificates are both quality certificates as well as certifi-cates of non-objection and technical passports for international use.
An overview of our most important certificates:
DIN EN ISO 9001: 2008For our quality management.
ISO 14001:2004 For our environmental management system.
Pictogrammes:With the aid of internationally-approved pictogrammes, the directives, standards and conformalities with which our prod-ucts comply can be easily recognised straight away.
Regional registrations such as for North America or Canada or user-specific regis-trations such as RoHS, DNV or WEEE are frequent requirements for relevant use of the products.
See appendix T30
KTA 1401For the quality of products from the nuclear power sector.
ATEX Atmosphre explosible (ATEX) stands for two European Union directives: ATEX equip-ment directive 94/9/EC and ATEX work-place directive 99/92/EC. The aims of these directives are to protect those work-ing in areas at risk of explosion.
Apart from this, our products all conform with numerous international standards: UL, CSA, EU, HAR GOST, VDE, TV, GL, PTB, CCC and more. More detailed information hereto is availa-ble in the catalogue appendix, table T18.

Multimillion bending cycles at maximum speeds and minimum bending radii. This is only one of many tests that a highly-flexible line has to withstand to be accepted into our standard product range.
Next to what in part are brute-force tests and stringent endurance tests, radiological methods are also used. For example, the special X-ray method EDX, with which the mineral content of human bone tissue is measured. We use EDX to trace any possi-ble toxic substances or RoHS substances in cables and other products.
With this in mind: You are very welcome to put your own products through their paces in our trial and test centre.
We put quality through a tough test
