Primary Choir Performances

This year our primary school choir has been invited to perform in a Christmas concert along with Moscow International Choir in St Andrews Church. This is their annual Christmas concert on two separate nights with money raised going to a local Hospice charity in Moscow. This is a great opportunity for the children to perform with an experienced adult choir and we hope to see many of you there in support and to get yourselves into the Christmas spirit.

Nursery and Reception

Year 1 and 2

Nursery and Reception children learned the letter M this week, getting super excited about making a macaroni necklace and reading a story about the Macaroni Penguin. They painted a mistletoe for Christmas decorations they started to make together with their older friends in their crafts club. They learned the letter M vocabulary, adding a new word to their letter of the week box every day, enjoying hands-on activities experimenting with magnetic wands and magnetic items.

Year 1&2 have had a lovely week and have been working hard rehearsing their upcoming nativity performance. It's looking great! During English lessons, they have been reading silly poems and are getting good at spotting the rhyming words! In Maths, the students have been working with money and now understand how to make different amounts in both pounds and pence. Year 1&2 made their own dreidels for Hanukkah and learned how to play the game. In science, they have been learning about the life cycle of the caterpillar. It was so interesting to watch a video of it happening in real life! Next week is our trip to Masterslavl, learning silly poems, revising our adding and subtracting knowledge, parts of an animal and more Hanukkah learning!

Year 5

Year 6

Year 4

Year 3

Year 5 this week have been mostly focused on their class assembly. With this, they have looked at techniques for script writing to include how to transfer conversations between characters into written form. Children have been working hard on MangaHigh to contribute to the worldwide competition.

In Maths we did progress checks. We were very proud of the improvements we have all made. We are learning hard every week! In English, we finished reading The Witches, by Roald Dahl. It's a wonderful story and we loved listening to it. On Thursday, we were lucky enough to watch the movie. We compared how the book and movie were the same and different. We started reading The 13 Storey Treehouse. This might be the funniest book we have ever read! We are all reading books from the series

now and are very excited to be able to read big novels on our own! In Topic we have learnt about Thanksgiving, and discussed what we are thankful for. In Science, we finished our experiment and have proven that gas does weigh something. Ask us how we figured it out!

This week in Maths, Year 6 have been working with fractions. They learned how to compare different fractions and also worked on converting improper fractions to mixed numbers. Later in the week the children learned how to calculate the perimeter and area of irregular shapes. In English, the focus was on grammar, particularly on how to use the past tense correctly. In Science, the children have been working hard on creating their own quizzes about the circulatory system. They used PowerPoint to make "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" quizzes with questions on the heart, lungs and blood vessels. Now the children are looking forward to playing the quizzes next week!

This week Year 3 have been learning about dividing and having a remainder in Maths. We have continued reading ‘The Fire-Maker’s Daughter’ and the children are really enjoying it! In Science, we discussed the uses and names of our teeth and in Topic we began making Xmas decorations for the Xmas bazaar. The children are very excited about selling their crafts! On Monday, Years 1,2 and 3 will be going on a class trip, so please make sure the children come prepared with warm clothes, a water bottle and a snack. Have a lovely, snowy weekend!

This half term the Table Tennis Club has been enjoying practising their skills on Monday lunchtimes. The quality of play is getting better and better every week. Some of the older children have started a league and there have already been some very exciting matches. A very interesting few weeks lie ahead before we find out who will be crowned champion for this term!

3 D Paper Craft Club

We had a lot of fun at the 3D paper craft. We made big hearts. We share our love with you. Have a nice weekend.
