    What is the Holy Bible?

The #ol$ Bible is a collection of '' boo(s and letters written b$ man$ people who were inspired b$ the #ol$ )pirit of*od. These boo(s tell !s how we can be sa+ed from the e+il of this world and gain eternal life that is tr!l$ worth li+ing.

The #ol$ Bible consists of two main sections: the 0ld Testament and the New Testament. The 0ld Testament records

*ods interaction with man(ind before #e sent #is son to redeem !s, while recording prophes$ predicting that coming. TheNew Testament tells !s of *ods )on and Annointed 0ne, es!s, and the wonderf!l sal+ation that #e p!rchased for !s.

Why was the World English Bible translated?

There are alread$ man$ good translations of the #ol$ Bible into contemporar$ English. 3nfort!natel$, almost all of them

are restricted b$ cop$right and cop$right holder polic$. This restricts p!blication of *ods Word in some wa$s, s!ch as in

downloadable files on the %nternet. The World English Bible was commissioned b$ *od in response to pra$er abo!t thiss!bect.

Beca!se the World English Bible is in the !blic "omain 4not cop$righted5, it can be freel$ copied, distrib!ted, and

    redistrib!ted witho!t an$ pa$ment of ro$alties. 6o! dont e+en ha+e to as( permission to do so.

How was the World English Bible translated?

The World English Bible is an !pdate of the American )tandard 7ersion 4A)75 of the #ol$ Bible, p!blished in 1891. Ac!stom comp!ter program !pdated the archaic words and word forms to contemporar$ e!i+alents, and then a team of+ol!nteers proofread and !pdated the grammar. The New Testament was !pdated to conform to the ;aorit$ Te6ahweh? for *ods proper name in the 0ld Testament. This is o!r best reconstr!ction ofhow this most hol$ name was originall$ prono!nced.
