1. Position the motorcycle on a paddock stand.

2. Remove the rider's seat as described in the Owner'sHandbook.

3. Disconnect the battery, negative (black) lead first.

4. Remove the blanking plug from the opening in theleft hand side of the battery tray. Retain the blankingplug if the motorcycle is to be returned to its originalcondition.

5. Install the auxiliary power socket to the battery trayand rotate the socket until the cover hinge isuppermost. Fit the washer and nut, tightening to2 Nm.

WarningThe accessory kits covered in this instruction aredesigned for use on specific models of Triumphmotorcycle. The accessory kits and the modelsapplicable are listed at the start of the instruction. Theyshould not be fitted to any other Triumph model or toany other manufacturer’s motorcycle. Fitting anaccessory kit to a Triumph model not listed, or to anyother manufacturer’s motorcycle will affect theperformance, stability and handling of the motorcycle.This may affect the rider’s ability to control themotorcycle and could cause an accident.

WarningAlways have Triumph approved parts, accessories andconversions fitted by a trained technician of anauthorised Triumph dealer. The fitment of parts,accessories and conversions by a technician who is notof an authorised Triumph dealer may affect thehandling, stability or other aspects of the motorcycle'soperation, which may result in loss of motorcycle controland an accident.

WarningThroughout this operation, ensure that the motorcycle isstabilised and adequately supported to prevent risk ofinjury from the motorcycle falling.

WarningA torque wrench of known accurate calibration must beused when fitting this accessory kit. Failure to tightenany of the fasteners to the correct torque specificationmay affect motorcycle performance, handling andstability. This may result in loss of motorcycle control andan accident.

6. Locate the auxiliary power socket connector, tapedto the main harness adjacent to the power socketopening in the battery tray.

7. Connect the electrical connector to the power socket.

8. Reconnect the battery, positive (red) lead first.

9. Refit the rider's seat as described in the Owner'sHandbook.

10. Remove the paddock stand and place the motorcycleon its side stand.

Auxiliary Power Socket Loading

Fuse number 5 of the front fuse box protects the auxiliarypower socket. Refer to the Owner’s Handbook for itslocation. Refer to the label in the fuse box lid for fuseamperage.

To protect the battery from excessive discharge whileusing fitted electrical accessories the combined totalcurrent which may be drawn through the standard andauxiliary sockets is 5 amps.

Tiger Explorer, Tiger Explorer XC, Explorer XR, Explorer XC, Tiger 1200 XR

1. Position the motorcycle on a paddock stand.

2. Remove the rider’s seat as described in the ServiceManual.

3. Disconnect the battery, negative (black) lead first.

4. Remove the blanking plug from the opening in theleft hand side of the rear bodywork. Retain theblanking plug if the motorcycle is to be returned toits original condition.

5. Remove the rear bodywork as described in theService Manual.

6. Install the auxiliary power socket to the rearbodywork and rotate the socket until the cover hingeis facing to the front. Fit the washer and nut,tightening to 2 Nm.

7. Locate the auxiliary power socket connector taped tothe main harness in the battery tray adjacent to thepower socket opening in the rear bodywork.

8. Connect the electrical connector to the power socket.

9. Refit the rear bodywork as described in the ServiceManual.

10. Reconnect the battery, positive (red) lead first.

11. Refit the rider’s seat as described in the ServiceManual.

12. Remove the paddock stand and place the motorcycleon its side stand.

Note:

• The maximum rated capacity of the rear auxiliarypower socket is 10 amps.

Auxiliary Power Socket Fuse

Tiger Explorer and Tiger Explorer XC only

Fuse number 4 of the right hand fuse box protects therear auxiliary power socket. Refer to the Owner’sHandbook for its location.

Trophy

1. Position the motorcycle on a paddock stand.

2. Remove the luggage rack, as described in theService Manual.

3. Disconnect the battery, negative (black) lead first, asdescribed in the Service Manual.

4. Remove the left hand rear panel, as described in theService Manual.

Note:

• Do not use any form of sharp implement toremove the blanking plug from the rear panel.Always push the blanking plug out from the rearof the panel.

5. Remove the blanking plug from the rear panel.Retain the blanking plug if the motorcycle is to bereturned to its original condition.

6. Locate the auxiliary power socket connector on themain harness. A green tab on the connector wiring isprovided to aid identification.

7. Remove the identification tab, this will release theauxiliary power socket connector from the mainwiring harness.

8. Fit the auxiliary power socket to the rear panel in theorientation shown below.

9. Secure the auxiliary power socket to the rear panelwith the washer and nut. Tighten the nut to 2 Nm.

10. Connect the electrical connector to the auxiliarypower socket.

11. Refit the left hand rear panel, as described in theService Manual.

12. Refit the luggage rack, as described in the ServiceManual.

13. Reconnect the battery, positive (red) lead first, asdescribed in the Service Manual.

14. Remove the paddock stand and place the motorcycleon its side stand.

Note:

• The maximum rated capacity of the rear auxiliarypower socket is 10 amps.

Rocket III, Rocket III Classic and Rocket III Touring

1. Position the motorcycle on a paddock stand.

2. Remove the seat and disconnect the battery,negative (black) lead first.

3. Refer to the illustration below and remove the twofixings securing the left hand frame infill panel to themotorcycle. Remove the infill panel from themotorcycle.

4. Push the blanking plug out of the infill panel.

Note:

• The blanking plug will not be refitted but shouldbe retained for future reuse if the auxiliary powersocket kit is ever removed.

5. Fit the auxiliary power socket to the infill panel asshown below using the washer provided in the kitand the nut to secure. Tighten the nut to 2 Nm.

6. Locate the two-pin electrical connector marked withblue tape in the main wiring harness. The connectoris situated in the area which was covered by the lefthand frame infill panel. Fit the connector to the backof the auxiliary power socket.

7. Refit the left hand frame infill panel to themotorcycle. Tighten the two fixings to 4 Nm.

8. Reconnect the battery, positive (red) lead first.

9. Refit the seat.

10. Remove the paddock stand and place the motorcycleon its side stand.

Auxiliary Power Socket Fuse

Fuse number 3 of the fuse box protects the auxiliarypower socket. Refer to the Owner’s Handbook for itslocation. Refer to the label in the fuse box lid for fuseamperage.

America

1. Position the motorcycle on a paddock stand.

2. Remove the seats, as described in the ServiceManual.

3. Disconnect the battery, negative (black) lead first.

4. Remove the fuel tank, as described in the ServiceManual.

5. Locate the power socket mounting bracket to therear of the camshaft cover and on the right handside of the motorcycle.

6. Fit the auxiliary power socket to the bracket usingthe nut provided and tighten to 5 Nm.

7. Locate the harness connector on the left hand side ofthe motorcycle taped to the harness with blue tapeand push onto the terminals at the rear of theauxiliary power socket.

8. Refit the fuel tank, as described in the ServiceManual.

9. Connect the battery leads, positive (red) lead first.

10. Refit the seats and tighten its screws to 10 Nm.

11. Remove the paddock stand and place the motorcycleon its side stand.

CautionWhen refitting the left hand frame infill panel, routecables to follow the main wiring harness and ensure nocables can be trapped by the infill panel.

Failure to observe this caution may result in shortcircuits, a burnt out wiring harness and the possibility offire.

A fire causing personal injury and damage to propertycould result from spilled fuel or fuel not handled orstored correctly.

Auxiliary Power Socket Fuse

Fuse number 3 of the fuse box protects the auxiliarypower socket. Refer to the Owner’s Handbook for itslocation. Refer to the label in the fuse box lid for fuseamperage.

WarningIf, after fitment of this accessory kit, you have any doubtabout the performance of any aspect of the motorcycle,contact an authorised Triumph dealer and do not ridethe motorcycle until the authorised dealer has declaredit fit for use. Riding a motorcycle when there is anydoubt as to any aspect of the performance of themotorcycle may result in loss of control of themotorcycle, leading to an accident.

WarningNever ride an accessory equipped motorcycle at speedsabove 80 mph (130 km/h).

The presence of accessories will cause changes in thestability and handling of the motorcycle. Failure to allowfor changes in motorcycle stability may lead to loss ofcontrol or an accident.

Remember that the 80 mph (130 km/h) limit will bereduced by the fitting of non-approved accessories,incorrect loading, worn tyres, overall motorcyclecondition and poor road or weather conditions.

WarningThe motorcycle must not be operated above the legalroad speed limit except in closed-course conditions.

WarningOnly operate this Triumph motorcycle at high speed inclosed-course, on-road competitions or on closed-courseracetracks. High-speed operation should only beattempted by riders who have been instructed in thetechniques necessary for high-speed riding and arefamiliar with the motorcycle's characteristics in allconditions.

High-speed operation in any other circumstances isdangerous and will lead to loss of motorcycle controland an accident.
