Year 2 Home Learning Focus – 29.06.2020
Spelling FocusToday we are going to revisit a spelling
pattern we have looked at before, adding
the suffixes –er and -est. Remember if a
word ends in a short vowel sound (a, e, I
,o ,u) and a consonant. We double the
consonant before adding –er or –est.
Please practise the spellings below
using look, say, cover, write and check.

English – Fantastic Mr Fox This week we are going to be completing lots of fun
activities to do with the book ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’ by Roald
Dahl.
Today we would like you to focus on reading or listening to
chapters 1 and 2. If you don’t have the book, don’t worry
because the link below has the story in full. See if you can
create your own setting map to show where Fantastic Mr
Fox and the other farmers live. Use the vocabulary at the
bottom of the sheet to help you. Please see the separate

Maths – Problem of the dayThis week as the weather is going to be nice, if you
can, lets try and take your maths learning outside.
If you can’t go outside, not to worry, try to
complete these activities using indoor objects

8, 9 and 10 sided shape using indoor or outdoor
materials.

would like you to think about a new idea for a story. See if
today you can draw a setting for your own story idea. Try
to think carefully about what happens in your story (the
plot), the characters you will choose and how the
characters move around the setting. Please see the

Creative – Drama Today see if you can pretend or ‘be in role’ as Mr Fox.
Use the mask on the separate sheet to help you get into
character.
You might need to ask an adult to help you with cutting
out the eyes.

ness to many root words to make a noun.
