CONTROL SYSTEMS’ SECTORCONTROL SYSTEMS’ SECTOR
The basic definition of a control panel (UCS, Unit Control System) passes through the following main activities:
- Execution of a schematic drawing (Autocad or Visio) that defines the main components of the control system and their interconnections, both hardwired and serial (Control System Schematic ).
- Unit Control System Layout : CAD design for the definition of dimensions, accesses, carpentry and positioning of components inside the control panel.
- UCS I/O List: List of signals from/for field, customers’ client (DCS, ESD, MCC, ecc..) and signals inside the panel for cards I/O of PLC dimensioning.
- Definition of the composition for the vibration monitoring system and protection of overspeed and its purchase specification.
Basic engineering for control panels:- Steam Turbines + Centrifugal Compressors or Electric Generator;- Electric Motor + Centrifugal or Alternative Compressor;- Turboexpander + Centrifugal Compressor or Electric Generator.
- Definition of the composition for the vibration monitoring system and protection of overspeed and its purchase specification.

CONTROL SYSTEMS’ SECTORCONTROL SYSTEMS’ SECTOR
- Functional Description : textual description of the control system functioning.
- Cause&Effects chart : creation of a table that displays in an immediate manner the effects on the control system from certain causes, such as interlock on pressures or temperature which cause the activation of pumps or heaters.
- Definition of interconnections between the control panel and junction boxes on field and other customers (DCS, MCC, ESD…) with the corresponding cable list.
- Considering the results of the activities above mentioned, we define the logics of programming of PLC dedicated to the plant control by functional and logic diagram (sequences of start, normal stop, emergency shutdown or auxiliary sequences, speed regulator of the turbine, anti-surge compressor regulator, monitoring machine’s vibrations, sequences of alarms and blocks).

Using the calculation’s tool «CAESAR II», a first level of analysis is performed on the intere pipeline .At critical points, to the level of calculated tensions, a second level of analysis is done through the Fem Ansys simulator.Examples given below: piping line and the Fem of detail (model with constraints and loads and an example of the resultsachieved) of a detailed analysis done on a flange.

Dimensioning and optimisation of carpentry’s profil es, used to reduce costs
The structure previously dimensioned is recreated with the software of structural analysis 3D (SAP 2000 ).The structure is then loaded according to the customers’ specifications and the reference regulations, in order tocheck the coefficients of exploitation of every beams and optimise the profiles, reducing the total weight of thestructure accordingly.Such weight reduction enables an optimisation of the offert for the ITO phase and a cost reduction in OTR phase.

The criticality of the service or a particular characteristics plant request a harmonyc analysis to the finishedelements (with ANSYS) on the structure and on the connecting manifolds between cooler and plant piping.
According to the customers’ specifications is possible to realize 3D models of the structures and singlecomponents, using a solid modelling such as Unigraphics, SolidEdge or SolidWorks.

Starting from 2D documentation on the BOM, a 3D model is realized (faithful to the General Arrangement). With the
use of the Ansys calculation software, the model is created, setting the weight of each components (cylinders, tanks,
casing spacers, ecc..) and generating an accurate mesh of the complete model until the foundation.
