    Prerequisite Knowledge:

      Engineering Mathematics 3 and 4

    Module Description/Aims:

This module builds on the students knowledge and skill s in calculus to

develop techniques for solving problems in Engineering. It aims to expose

students to typical engineering problems, have them design mathematical

models involving differential equations, and use these for predictions.

      interpret findings.

3 Calculate the Laplace Transforms of standard functions using tables

4 Use Laplace Transforms to solve differential equations

      Learning Strategies

The student will engage with the content of the module through a mixture of

    lecture, tutorial and practical work.
    Acknowledging the percieved difficulty of

mathematics this module will contextualise core content to their field of study

throughout and apply the content to real life problem solving situations.
    The

approach will make use of context-specific problem based worksheets for students

    to practice the procedures.
