What is Dual Credit?

● Allows high school students to enroll in college courses for credit prior to high school graduation

● Can be applied to meet high school graduation requirements and help students get a head start on earning a college degree

● Ways to earn dual credit:○ Attend a college course or courses at the

college○ Use a faculty member who is a college

adjunct professor to teach a college course at the high school

Page 6: Engineering: A New Partnership Model for Dual Credit ...njpsa.org/documents/fallconf2016/EngineeringPPT.pdfENR-103 Basic Engineering Graphics I 1 ENR-118 Computer-Aided Drafting II

Advantages of Dual Credit Programs

● Head start in college○ Saves tuition money ○ Provides advanced standing -

housing, registration ● Offers students rigorous, challenging

courses● Access to technology and equipment ● Provides a transition step to full time

college● Provides “strength of schedule” for seniors ● Solves the “senioritis’ problem
