LATEST ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM Engine Management System adopted in the latest car is using highly accurate sensors with the best signal coupling point, which enable to control engine with accuracy and delicately. It is for the purpose of more engine power output and less fuel. Here some example is introduced. At first, it is about the Adjustment of fuel. Fuel adjustment took place inside of engine ECU that calculates signals, such as airflow, a water temperature and r.p.m.signal, in the processing unit inside ECU, and the fuel is injected according to a situation. Respectively O2 sensor detects the mixed ratio of air and fuel of exhaust gas and the A/F signal is sent to ECU. Then this feed back signal adjusts the supply of fuel to the ideal value. Generally it is called feedback system or self study system. Or it is called Lambda control system that has two-control area, namely closed loop and open loop area. Almost all cars inclusive of Europe vehicle are controlled by closed loop control but few cars use an open loop and closed loop control. Even this case, engine is controlled mainly by closed loop. The open loop control is used only for high engine load at 4000 to 5000 or more r.p.m. With open throttle position of 70 to 80% or more. Cars before 2000 is equipped with O2 sensor using one wiring only. This type of vehicle is slow learning speed of control. It means Feedback takes place from one day to about 30days. However, recent engine uses four wires type of O2 sensor, the speed of feedback control time is quick. O2 sensor of 4wire type has built in heater, which can generate O2 signal immediately after engine start and low exhaust temperature at the time of an idling. It means O2 signal

LATEST ENGINE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Engine Management System adopted in the latest car is using highly accurate sensors with the best signal coupling point, which enable to control engine with accuracy and delicately.

It means O2 signal is available at all conditions. This O2 signal can control fuel finely with realizing engine performance of more power and less fuel. It means automotive ECU becomes very clever. The clever ECU installed to vehicle after 2000 can detect the change of data immediately by Piggyback, Sub-computer (so called after market tuning ECU) which subsequent engine check lamp lighting, a rough idling, and the fuel adjusted by airflow, MAP sensor, additional injector, etc returns to the original A/F ratio immediately being unable to increase an engine output power and other various problems are incurred.

Secondly on ignition control system: In the past distributor type is used, which the initial timing of ignition can be adjusted easily. In recent years, direct ignition system is used with built-in power amplifier. These are broadly used not only for a sports model but also for normal car such as Corolla and Sunny popularly priced car. Adjustment of ignition timing is not easy for that type of a car. Because there are various type of the cam angle sensor signal or uses additional cam sensor signal. Or ECU monitors camshaft signal with cam lift value with processing appropriate ignition timing. Or more complicated ECU do monitor Knock

sensor and O2 sensor signals in order to determine the right ignition timing adjusted in various conditions. When After market ECU (Subcon, Piggyback computer) is used on such clever ECU after 2000 year model of car, it causes ignition coil overload, engine check lamp lighting, rough idling, shortage of wire cable and burst of ignition amplifier, etc. Due to the above-mentioned reason, it is getting difficult to tune by after market Computer (Subcon or Piggyback).

Then, I will carry out our introduction of a product. A product name is Obit. This Obit is Subcon (Piggyback), which is very near to Stand-alone system. Obit can perform same function of presently available Piggyback system but can perform additional new function such as fuel control using O2 signal, automatic tuning mode, shift lamp control, fan switch control, Nos control, water injector control, data logging for 48houre, Drive history for 48days. Additional injector control, a boost control, speed limit control etc. The application is versatile regardless of type of engine and year model of cars. Especially automatic fuel adjusting by O2 sensor signal is very unique unavailable to other piggyback other than standalone ECU (the price of a unit is very high although there is this function). Obit is piggyback system has same function as a stand-alone ECU. This function (self-controlled fuel adjust) play very important roll for using piggyback with original ECU. As explained above, the car in recent years is always supervising the signal of O2 sensor, and this O2 signal is the signal adjusting fuel and ignition time. It is impossible to tune automotive engine with ECU without this auto-tune function inclusive of Diesel engine.

Our Obit has analog map and loop limit map (auto-tune map). As per above function, fuel (A/F ratio) can be adjusted from about 10.0 to 18.0 by remaking O2 signal simulating lean or thick fuel burning. If install this Obit on old type cars without feedback system or O2 sensor, this old cars can be controlled just same as latest cars with auto-tuning function. One of example, the latest diesel engine has been developed with ECU for better power, better mileages, cleaner exhaust gas, and better drivability.

Makers of Diesel car are conducting R&D for the latest standard code of exhaust gas in addition to the engine itself. Even there is a Diesel car with O2 sensor and ECU function equivalent to petrol car ECU resulting petrol car like engine performance. Now people in Europe, the diesel turbo are the hottest topic.V6 Diesel turbo with 3.5L DOHC 4valve engine produces over 300HP with torque of over 50kg/m. It is confirmed that a feedback system by O2 signal is the must for engine system. And our Obit can control a diesel engine with ECU (the latest diesel engine) freely. In near future (early next year) we are preparing to introduce new models of Obits in line of OBD2, OBD3, CAN BUS and optical fiber system. Same time, we are planning to produce a stand-alone computer and new concept sensors for turbocharger and supercharger tuning.
