History
• first incorporated in February 1999
• founding members─ Sr Margaret Ryan, RSM AO─ Mr Charles Lewis
• Banyule City Council assisted the formation of the Volunteers of Banyule Resource Centre by donating $5,000 and office space in an unused community centre in Watsonia
• in 2008, Banyule City Council provided new offices in the Hawdon St Community Hall
• current funding ─ Banyule City Council─ Nillumbik Shire Council─ Federal Government

Objectives
Volunteers of Banyule have four primary objectives:
1.to provide information to individuals about volunteering so they can chose whether or not it is what they want
2.to assist people who want to volunteer to find a suitable role
3.to assist non-profit organisations with recruitment strategies and support business volunteering
4.to promote volunteering

Outcomes2009-2010
• Worked with 140+ not-for-profit organizations
• Covering over 27 different roles , ie. IT , Gardening , Youth
Services , Retail , Teaching.
• placing over 419 local people in volunteer roles.
•Assisted 982 people towards volunteering and 172 community organizations or agencies.
