1 ENG110: Icebreaker Sign-Ups Sign up on the date of your choice. You will be working with at least one other person, so be sure to exchange contact information prior to your icebreaker date to arrange posting. Remember, as stated on your syllabus, this assignment is as follows: Once during the semester, small groups (2-3) will be responsible for posting three discussion starters relating to recent course material on our Sakai Discussion board by midnight the night before class. Aim for complex points that spark discussion – if you ask questions, these would be how or why questions, not what or who. Try asking your peers to compare ideas or texts from homework readings, point out a passage you found confusing, direct us to an interesting source (meaning, not simple biographical info on the author or time period) or propose a certain reading of a Modernist theme and ask if your peers agree/disagree. Think especially about our key Modernist idea of inside/out. You will then be responsible for walking the class through these points and leading initial discussion on your assigned date. I’ll provide a sample at the start of the semester to get you going.
