1.4 Copper Product Benefits

Notes:

Victaulic mechanical systems are the fastest joining method available, installing nearly twice as fast as welding, brazing and soldering and 20% faster than “press” products.

By eliminating the need to braze or solder or press plumbing systems, contractors can reduce rework on site by 10-15%. Also eliminated are hazardous flames and fumes, the need for tanks and torches onsite and costs associated with fire watches.

1.6 Style 607 QuickVic® Rigid Coupling

Notes:

Nothing competes with Victaulic installation ready technology. Available in 2-8” sizes, Victaulic Style 607 couplings require no disassembly and have no loose parts to drop or lose. This translates into increased productivity and more consistent pipe joints.

The Style 607 QuickVic coupling is rated up to 300 psi on Type “K” and Type “L” copper tube. An angled bolt pad with offset housings, provide rigidity and allow supporting/hanging same as welded or soldered systems in accordance with ANSI/ASME B31. The proprietary EHP high performance gasket rated -30°F to 250°F/-34°C to 121°C provides unmatched performance on hot water systems.

1.7 Style 608N Copper Butterfly Valve

Notes:

The Victaulic Series 608N copper connection butterfly valve is designed for pressures to 300 psi and features enhanced performance on hot water applications. This grooved end valve is quickly and easily joined to a copper tube system by utilizing Style 607 installation-ready couplings and features a patented seat design that creates full 360° sealing. The Series 608N is UL Classified in accordance with ANSI/NSF 61 for ambient and hot potable water service and with ANSI/NSF 372.

1.8 Fittings for Copper Tube

Notes:

Copper Tube Size (CTS) fittings are designed to use with Style 607 installation-ready couplings or Style 641 Vic-Flange Adapters. Fittings are full flow, standard radius wrought copper supplied roll grooved or bronze castings with “as cast” grooves. Currently available configurations are: 90° elbows No. 610 , 45° elbows No. 611, Straight tees No. 620, grooved reducing tees No. 625, grooved by “cup” reducing tees No. 626, reducing tees No. 627, grooved concentric reducers No. 650, grooved by “cup” concentric reducers No. 652 and No. 660 caps

1.9 Style 622 Copper Mechanical -T

Notes:

Victaulic Copper Mechanical-T® Outlets provide a direct branch connection at any location a hole can be cut in pipe. The hole is cut oversize to receive a “holefinder” locating collar which secures the outlet in position permanently. A pressure responsive gasket seals on the pipe O.

Cross-type connections can be achieved by utilizing two upper housings of the same style and run size, with the same or differing branch size connections. Style 622 Mechanical-T outlets are available with a female threaded NPT outlet and supplied with plated fasteners.

1.10 Style 641 Copper Flange Adapter

Notes:

Victaulic Style 641 flange adapters allow for a direct connection from flanged components to grooved copper tubing for 2-6” sizes. Style 641 Vic-Flange Adapters require a smooth, hard surface at the mating flange face for proper sealing. A Victaulic phenolic washer should be used when mating to a rubber faced flanged connection. A Victaulic flange should never be seated directly to a rubber face.

1.12 Dielectric Transition Fittings

Notes:

Victaulic Style 647 IPS to CTS dielectric transition fittings are typically used to join copper tubing to stainless steel pipe with one fitting. The fittings provide a set distance between the metals being joined while maintaining a minimal electric potential between the fitting and surrounding piping.

1.13 Grooving Copper

Notes:

Copper tubing must be prepared to Victaulic specifications outlined in the I-600 field installation handbook. Victaulic recommends square-cut copper tubing for use with Victaulic Copper Connection products. Copper tubing must be roll grooved to the dimensions shown in the “Groove Dimensions” tables, using only Copper Connection roll sets. A variety of hand-held portable, field and shop pipe preparation tool models can be used for copper as indicated. Here's a short video on the how a groove is applied to the end of the pipe for use with Victaulic systems.

1.14 Basic Installation Steps

Notes:

Style 607 Couplings are installation ready. The coupling is designed so that the installer does not need to remove the bolts and nuts for installation.

step 1: LUBRICATE GASKET: Apply a thin coat of Victaulic Lubricant or silicone lubricant only to the sealing lips of the gasket interior. Removal of gasket from the coupling is not required.

step 2: ASSEMBLE JOINT: Assemble the joint by inserting the grooved end of a copper mating component into each opening of the coupling until contact with the center leg of the gasket occurs. Visually ensure the coupling keys align with the grooves in the copper mating components.

step 3: TIGHTEN NUTS: Tighten the nuts evenly by alternating sides until metal-to-metal contact occurs at the angled bolt pads. Make sure the housings’ keys completely engage the grooves and the offsets are equal at the bolt pads
