At that time, Jesus said in reply : I give praise to you, Father,

Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these

things from the wise and the learned, you have revealed them

to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.

All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one

knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father

except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal

him. Comme to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I

will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,

for I am meek and humble of heart ; and you will find rest for

yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden, light.

Que ton Esprit de feu, Seigneur tout-puissant, vienne consacrer nos

Préface du Saint-Esprit

Vraiment, il et juste et bon de te rendre gloire, de t’offrir notre action

de grâce, toujours et en tout lieu à toi, Père très saint, Dieu éternel et

tout-puissant.

Toi qui sais ce qu’il faut à chacun et le lui donnes à chaque moment,

tu veilles sur ton Église, tu orientes sa marche. C’est ton Esprit qui la

soutient et la garde fidèle, pour qu’elle n’oublie jamais de e supplier

au milieu des épreuves, ni de te rendre grâce quand elle est dans la

joie, par le Christ notre Seigneur.

C’est par lui que la terre et le ciel avec les anges et les archanges, ne

cessent de t’acclamer en chantant :

Sanctus Saint, Saint, Saint le Seigneur, Dieu de l’univers!

Le ciel et la terre sont remplis de ta gloire.

Celebrant 0 God who did instruct the hearts of your faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit, grant us through this same Spirit, to taste what is good and to enjoy incessantly the consolation of which it is the source. Lector Lord, may the prayer of the Blessed Virgin Mary and of St. Joseph, her spouse come to our aid. Grant us through their intercession to have part in the fullness of your grace. Lector ln your kindness, Lord, you have given us Saints John Francis Regis, Aloysius Gonzaga and Stanislaus Kostka as protectors and patrons; grant us through their intercession to make you better known and to walk in your presence in the light of the Gospel. Celebrant God of Mercy, for your glory and the salvation of the world, you placed in the heart of your humble servant, Blessed Marie Rivier, an intrepid faith in the service of the Church and an ardent zeal to teach the Gospel. We beseech you, make us firm in the faith and conformed to your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord and our God, who reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen. The litanies of the Blessed Virgin are then sung. At the invocation Sancta Maria, the Community rises and accompanies in procession the members of the Chapter to the capitular room. The President closes the procession. When all the capitulars have entered the room, the Community returns to the chapel and stays there in prayer.

After the election, the capitulars go to the chapel. The new Superior walks last behind the President. After a moment of adoration, the President announces to the non-capitular Sisters who have remained in prayer during the election, the name of the newly-elected Superior General. The TE DEUM is then intoned After the President has exited, the oldest Capitular by profession gives Marie Rivier’s cross to the newly-elected Superior. The Sisters approach her for a gesture of obeisance. In kissing Marie Rivier’s cross, the Sisters signify that they welcome in faith the new Superior as the one who will represent Jesus Christ for them (D 78e).

Let us entrust to Mary and to Marie Rivier

the person that the Lord will give us

to help us open pathways of life, with Jesus Christ.
