    Questions 11-15

Read about Martha Meyers. For questions 11-15, complete the form with one ortwo wordsin each space. Write your answeronly here in this exam booklet. There is an example at the beginning (0).

    A Rising Star

Heres an interview from MTV that gives us some insight into Martha Meyers, the person.Shes just released the album Days of our Lives to stunning reviews.Meyers: My father worked as a music producer in Kent, England and lost his job when I

was just three. It caused a lot of bad feelings, so my parents decided to take the plunge. Itwas popular to move in the mid eighties, to the States or Australia, especially if you belongedto the music industry. My parents chose Canada. I guess it was logical at the time since apartfrom music being my familys profession and hobby, they were very physically minded too. Myhobbies used to be rollerblading and water skiing. But, lately Ive substituted water for snow.

MTV: They say you have a whole orchestra at home.Meyers: My brothers and sisters and I play the violin, guitar, cello, flute, piano. But I always

single out the keyboard instrument as my true love.MTV: How does 25 years of French-Canadian upbringing influence your music?Meyers: I grew up speaking French and kept telling people I was French, but Ive chosen

English as the language of pop music.MTV: Have you ever thought of acting?Meyers: I would love to. I think that a singer is very much like an actor. You take the

character of the song and you become that person, like the character of a movie whether its ajournalist, dancer or doctor.
