This is different from an internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle which uses fossil fuel like petrol, diesel or natural gas for its propulsion, emitting greenhouse gases (GHG) which pollute the environment. EVs can be charged from non-fossil based sources and also from the distributed generation with utility, community- and customer-based generation sources (e.g. roof-top solars and wind generation). Electric motors are also more energy-efficient than gasoline or diesel engines. Losses are lower, especially when the motors are brushless. Direct Current (DC) batteries also store DC power and don’t need power conversion. Battery electric cars have added benefits of the home recharging. About Electric Vehicles: Battery-based electric

vehicles (EVs) are zero emission vehicles: they have no tailpipe emissions and derive power from a

battery pack. There's no internal combustion engine—electric motors drive the wheels.

Electric vehicles typically use chemi-cal-based batteries (like lithium-ion), which powers the electric motors and motor controllers for propulsion.

Electric motors are also more energy-efficient than gasoline or diesel

engines. Losses are lower, especially when the motors are brushless. Direct Current (DC) batteries also store DC power and don’t need power conversion.

Battery electric cars have added benefits of the home recharging. A 240V outlet, similar to those used for air conditioners or washing machines, can be used to charge a battery-based electric car, albeit at a slow charge rate. The annual event of International Coastal Clean-up (ICC), which is conducted by Indian Coast Guard HQ, Maharashtra, took place this year on 16th Septem-ber from 8:00 am to 11:00 am on the beaches of Juhu, Mahim, Girgaon, Dahanu and Navi Mumbai.

On display was our commitment to the marine environment and coastal cleaning in our distribution areas—and we worked in partnership with Indian Coast Guard (which was leading the event as a part of Swacch Bharat Abhiyan).

Reliance Infrastructure also participated as a sponsor for the Juhu Beach cleaning drive. Our employees, their family members and friends and local citizens participated as volunteers; around 3,000 school students from across the Mumbai suburbs joined in at Juhu beach. Besides cleaning the beach, there were also lectures on the importance of marine environment, its upkeep, preservation and conservation.

Around 400kg of waste, including plastic and other non-bio-degradable waste, as collected from the beach; a total of 360 man-hours was invested by Reliance Energy employees in the coastal clean-up.

Our Vice President Shri Ricky Uchil received a memento from Indian Coast Guard for our company co-sponsorship and active participationin the programme.
