efficiency for all age groups of Girl Guides and Scouts. Estimated outreach is 10,000
members

Media’s TV channel Television Maldives. The drama convey the message of importance

• Emission testing by EPA for old and new cars and motorbikes
• EPA is currently collecting the baseline information required to revise the
Vehicular Emission Standards in collaboration with Maldives Polytechnic. The
standard is being implemented by the transport authority of the Maldives.
• A guideline regarding waste incineration has been drafted and published in EPA
website (not gazetted yet) to facilitate the construction
and operation of waste incinerators safely and to mitigate the adverse
environmental (including emissions) and health impacts that may arise.

scale investments in renewable energy • Maldives SREP (Scaling Up Renewable Energy Program) Investment
Plan, a critical plan to meet the policy priorities of the Government and
SDGs
• ASPIRE (Accelerating Sustainable Private Investment in Renewable
Energy) aims to scale up renewable energy installations through private
sector projects & programs
• Key focus of this program is to create project structure conducive
for private sector participation, which includes design of an
appropriate project framework & agreements that result in making
the project bankable & attractive to private sector projects &
programs
• Under ASPIRE an initial project of 1.5MW awarded in 2015

scale investments in renewable energy • POISED ( Preparing Outer Islands for Sustainable Energy Development) aims to
scale up renewable energy installations through public sector interventions
• Key focus of this program is to support achieving full RE systems on small
electricity consuming islands and make the power systems ready to accept
energy from intermittent RE by improving supply side efficiencies
• Under POISED 2.5MW awarded in 2015 with supply side improvements in 9
islands
• Renewable energy
• Install RE at least up to 30% of daytime peak load in all inhabited islands
• To date 5MW of RE has been installed
