Canadians consume more energy per capita than any other country in the world

• 1890 – Coal and wood provided almost all the country’s energy

• 1990 – Petroleum, natural gas, hydroelectricity, uranium

• 21st century – Solar, geothermal, wind, tides?

Power & Electricity

• Secondary energy resource: manufactured from primary energy resources, such as water, coal, uranium, oil, natural gas

• These are all natural resources abundant in Canada

• Water is considered renewable, but most of our energy comes from non-renewable resources.
