Session B1: Give the Gifts: Self-Esteem

& Self-Confidence

Adults know self esteem is important. But what about self-confidence? We want children to feel good about who they are, but it is also important they believe in their great potential. During this seminar, participants will discover the important elements of fostering self-esteem; identify the role that adult expectations, values, and limit-setting play in building self-confidence; and learn specific techniques to encourage children to feel responsible, capable and competent .

Session B2: Learning with Loose Parts How can we effectively develop a child's creativity and problem-solving skills? Give them loose parts! Loose parts play provides decision-making oppor-tunities: to choose, to build, to invent, to collabo-rate, to move, to consider, to manipulate, to com-bine, and so on. See for yourself the originality and connections to formal learning that unfold from loose parts play!
