Bowers Distinguished Lecture Series Lecture Feb. 24 @ 6pm Palmer Lipcon Auditorium, Palmer Museum of Art, U.PARK HIGH COMFORT - LOW IMPACT SUSTAINABILITY CONCEPTS FROM BUILDINGS TO CITIES Matthias Schuler is one of the managing directors of TRANSSOLAR Energietechnik in Stuttgart. Born 1958 he is educated as a mechanical engineer at University Stuttgart. In 1992 he founded the company TRANSSOLAR Climate Engineering in Stuttgart. TRANSSOLAR’S focus is on new energy saving and comfort optimizing strategies by an integral approach in building design. Since 1995 Matthias Schuler worked in a close collaboration with Helmut Jahn, which allowed for several outstanding building proj- ects like exemplary Bangkok International Airport or the Deutsche Post Tower in Bonn, documenting the integration of sustainability into architecture. With the masterplan for the worlds first carbon neutral city Masdar Development in collaboration with Foster Partners Transsolar extended their concepts into urban scales identifying the necessary boundary conditions for such a challenging approach.
