The iManager M2000 V2 is a centralized network

management product independently developed by

Huawei. As a wireless network management solution,

it supports the access of all the Huawei wireless

products and provides the uniform centralized network

management function to all these devices.

This document introduces the procedure for deploying

the iManager M2000 and installing the software.

Make documents ready. (Prepare for all the documents required by a

deployment.)

You can download all the technical documents from support.huawei.com.

English website: Documentation > Core Network Product Line >Wireless-OSS

Sales contracts: You can obtain the basic M2000 configuration information.

Engineering documents: equipment room layout, networking diagram, and othersDigital copy of the packing list

M2000 host name and the IP address planning

The host name is assigned by customer, or we can use the system default host

name if customer have no requirement for it.

IP address are assigned by customer normally, or customer provide IP address

segments, then on site engineer assign IP address by themselves.

Confirm North Interface InformationIt is most important, may delay the time limit of the project; if it

has no North interface in the project, pass this step

Confirm North Interface Type:

Confirm the original NBI information according the BOQ,which can be get from MKT engineer.

Prepare your M2000 versionM2000V2 Server installation package, CHN/ENG versions are the same, released with

the M2000version.

M2000V2 Client installation package, CHN/ENG versions are the same, released withthe M2000version.

M2000s Match software, CHN/ENG versions are separated, release with NEs versionand installed on M2000 server.

LAN switch and Routers Match software released under: Software > VersionSoftware > Core Network Product Line > Wireless-OSS iManager M2000-II >iManagerM2000-II V200R002 >iManager M2000-MED

CHN/ENG of M2000 version can only manage the CHN/ENG NE.

Advantage: An NTP Server is provided by the customer, which ensures thetime precision on the entire network.

Disadvantage: From the perspective of IP networking, you need to ensure thatthe IP addresses of the NEs such as BSC and the IP addresses of the NTP Serverare connected.

Advantage: None.

Disadvantage: When no external NTP server exists, this solution cannot ensurethat the network time is consistent with the standard time.

Accidents occurred on the network. A customer forgot that the NTP Server at themedium level acts as the M2000 server and randomly changed the time of theM2000 server, thus causing the disorder of the NE time.

Daylight of your network

Support the Daylight from M2000V2R2C02B027SP06

Make sure that the Solaris support the locals daylight

Check the Solariss rule, if its consistent with locals.

If not matched, please check if already have related path on SUNs

web.If have patch, please send it to HQ and verify it first, then apply it

onsite.

If no patch, please contact HQ for help.

Generally, Solaris s Daylight rule doesnt match with the locals iflocal government changed it. For suck issue, SUN company willrelease special patch to fix it.

M2000 License

R3 license cant be using for R5/R6, also in reverse.

The license can be using for each other between R5 and R6 but if you want touse the new function of R6, you have to use the license of R6.

You may install the license among installing M2000 procedure, also you canfinish installing M2000, then install the license before the M2000 server first timerunning

How to get license please refer to M2000 License Application Guide in theSupport website.

Character set of the Sybase

iso_1: Refers to the English character set, which matches the M2000 in English version.

Cp936: Refers to the Chinese character set, which matches the M2000 in Chinese version.

You cannot change the character set once it is specified. Otherwise, the Sybase may breakdown.

Veritas Volume Manager and License (Required when Installing the HA System)

Before delivery, the Veritas Volume Manager and its license have been installed.

The license of the Veritas Volume Manager is delivered with the device. The license is astring of digital codes printed on a piece of A4 paper.

The license may not be installed because of delivery emergency. Therefore, you need tocheck the license on site.

Troubleshooting


You need to change the default values of the timezone, IP address, and host name according to

the actual situation.1. Change the time zone of the M2000 server.

2. Change the date and time on the M2000 server.

3. Change the host name of the M2000 server.

4. Change the IP address of the M2000 server.

5. Add or delete the M2000 server router.

To install the M2000 server software, perform thefollowing procedures:

1. Create the user ftpuser and omcuser.

2. Upload the M2000 software installationpackage to the server.

3. Run the M2000 software installation package.

Troubleshooting

You need to do the operation in the HA systemonly.

In the HA system, Sun cluster will control theswitching of the dual-server, Sybase andM2000 software are both working on the hostnode as resource, when the host node isfault, the Sun cluster will switch Sybase andM2000 to standby node.

Therefore, you have to register the Sybase andM2000 to Sun cluster as a resource, so thatSun cluster can manage Sybase and M2000,to realize the HA functions.

Troubleshooting

To check the M2000 server installation, performthe following procedures:

1. Verify that the Sybase is normally started.

2. Start the M2000 service.

3. Check whether all the M2000 services arerunning

4. Restart the M2000 services.

5. Check the status of the M2000 services . 6. Verify the switching of HA system is ok.
