Hello Parents, Caregivers and Community Members,

It is hard to believe that, as of Monday next week, there are only 5 weeks of school remaining for this year. 5 weeks but ―jammed packed‖ with many activities. The planned activities include:

Year 6 and 7 Transition to High School (on various days)

School Concert to be held on Wednesday, 3 December (new

evening format, weather permitting)

Year 6 Graduation and Dinner Dance on Tuesday, 9th

December

Year 7 Graduation and Dinner Dance on Thursday, 11th

December

Book Awards Assembly: Monday, 15th December

Incentival: Tuesday, 16th December

Along with these annual events, formal reports for Semester 2 will be sent home.

Well done to our Year 7 classes for their participation and cooperation in the community Remembrance Day Ceremony held at Veterans Park on Tuesday, 11th November.

A reminder for all—students who arrive at school before 8:25am on any day, must report to and stay in the undercover area until dismissed by the duty admin member. While in the undercover area, students are required to sit quietly, complete homework, read or talk quietly to their friends. Parents who accompany their children before classes open, are requested to sit in the Achiever Block Alcove.

Each year our Year 7 students and, for the first time, our Year 6 students, apply for Specialist Programs at various high schools . This year we congratulate the following students who have gained places in:

The busiest time of the year is upon us and we encourage all students to keep on track and continue to produce their best work until the very end of the year. Keep up the great work, everyone.

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

At our last assembly, we celebrated Mrs O’Shaughnessy’s official retirement from the Department of Education after a teaching career spanning more than 50 years! She will be continuing her Art Program for the rest of this year and will be on call for ―special projects‖ in the future. Mrs O’S received her Valedictory letter on behalf of the Department and a beautiful bouquet of flowers from staff. The children sang ―Paint You A Song‖ to her and she left the stage in a chariot to travel to her morning tea function in the staffroom! It was an event to remember for us all. Our best wishes go to Mrs O’S for a long and happy retirement.

Incentival is coming up soon and I’d just like to bring your attention to the following school policy regarding student eligibility to attend.

“In order to be eligible to attend the Incentival, students need to show excellent behaviour, wear appropriate school uniform, consistently complete their work, arrive at school on time and have 90-100% attendance. Please note that 5 or more unexplained absences (without a medical certificate) and/or 10 or more late arrivals will exclude students from attending the Incentival.”

We’d really like to see all Endeavour students attend the Movies or Chipmunks Incentival if possible this term.

The end of the year is closing in on us very quickly and there are lots of events coming up. Please keep an eye on the newsletters for dates of events so that you have plenty of time to prepare!

Important Numbers and Dates for you to keep on the fridge.

WAGSM Concert Dezarae

During Term 3, we had the WAGSMS Concert. WAGSMS stands for Western Australian Government Schools Music Society. The Endeavour Schools choir, dance group and instrumentalists performed. The concert was held in the Mandurah Preforming Arts Centre. The dance group opened the show with a hip hop dance. They danced to “Tonight, Tonight” and “Feel This Moment”. After a few other performances it was the senior choir’s turn. They sang “Brave” and “Po Kare Kare Ana”. I was very tired after the show but I really enjoyed performing and watching the other performances. It was a really good day. :)

After School Sports AJ

In Term 1, I got into After School Sport

with Mr Liddle. We did surfing and my

first session was with Mr Liddle and

Douggy. At first, I was not that good at

it. We did the basic drills on the sand

before we went in the water. It looked

really easy on the sand because all you

had to do was paddle then stand up but

when we got into the water, it was a

whole lot harder.

Rafting on Camp Filip

In May, we had our Year 6 camp. There was a bunch of activities such as flying fox,

jungle gym, reverse rain and rafting. Everyone loved rafting and we all took turns.

We had a race with the girls against the boys. Sadly, the girls won. After the race, we

played a game where a boy and a girl got on the front of the boat and everyone else on

the raft wiggled it so they fell into the water. The water was freezing cold and it was

raining. All of the kids swam in their shoes which got soaking wet and felt soggy. All of

us loved rafting - it was the best part of camp. We had to wear life jackets to keep us

from drowning. When we got out of the water we got our towels to dry

ourselves and went back to the campsite for our next activity.

Red Faces on Camp Leah

My favourite highlight of Year 6 was Red

Faces at Nanga Bush Camp in

Dwellingup. All of the students had to do

1 or 2 performances in front of the other

students and teachers at camp. At the end

of each performance, we would get rated

out of 10 by the teachers. I really enjoyed

watching the performances. My favourite

performance was Dezarae’s and Ricca’s

Cook Island dance because I could tell

that they had been practising for a while.

They were both in time of the music and

didn’t make any mistakes. The funniest

performance was when Alisa, Louise and

Mackenzie did a pillow fight in their

pyjamas. It was really fun to watch and we

had a good laugh.

Indonesian Lunch David

In Term 3, Ibu Anscombe planned

a special day for children who

behave well during Indonesian

lessons. 20 students from Year 6

classes were selected to go to

Victoria Restaurant for a 4 course

meal. There was a range of

noodles, chicken, rice, vegetables

and even ice cream.

Tackle Rugby Carnival Bryers

My best Year 6 memory is the Tackle Rugby Carnival

where we took 2 teams. Mr Nurse was the coach of

the girls’ team and Mr Liddle was the coach of the

boys’ team. We trained twice a week and had an

awesome time. The boys came 3rd and the girls came

2nd and made it into interstate finals. We were all

tired and exhausted at the end of the day but,

overall, everyone enjoyed the tournament.

Drama Kiarah

In Term 3, we had our

Drama production. I was in the singing chorus. The play was about

Hansel and Gretel. For the play to happen we had to have main

performers, choir, animals, narrator and backstage people. We

performed two plays: one in the morning and one in the afternoon

so everyone got to see it. At the end of the day, we were really tired

and got to eat what we wanted— LOLLIPOPS!!!!

Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal 2014

Endeavour Schools will be participating in the Kmart Wishing Tree Appeal again this year. Classes will raise money by collecting donations from students. Each class will then buy a Christmas present to put under the Wishing Tree in Kmart.

If you have any loose change, please send it to your child’s class or to the office by Friday, 28th November 2014.

Children should eat a healthy, nutritious breakfast to give them the energy they need for the school day. Ideally, breakfast should include fruit or vegetables, a dairy product (or alternative) and a wholegrain product. Here are some breakfast ideas:

Raisin bread or fruit loaf topped with ricotta cheese and fruit.

Porridge, made with milk and topped with berries or chopped

banana.

Fruit smoothies, made with milk, yoghurt, soft fruit and wheatgerm

or psyllium.

Wholegrain muffin (topped with cheese and tomato) and a piece of

fruit.

Yoghurt topped with cereal and chopped or pureed fruit.

Baked beans with wholegrain toast and a small glass of diluted fruit

juice.

Poached or scrambled eggs with toast and a glass of milk.

Toasted bagel with avocado and a glass of

milk.

Wholegrain toast, spread with a small

amount of jam or honey and topped with sliced banana plus a small yoghurt tub.

Healthy Eating - Breakfast Ideas

Endeavour Schools now have EFTPOS facilities available in the front office.

This facility can be used for payments over $10 such as contributions,

swimming lessons or excursions. Our new system allows us to take

payments in advance for any of the above items. Smaller amounts must go

through the class money books.

Parents can now make payments in advance for any future expenses such as

swimming lessons, incentivals and excursions. These payments will be held as

credit in your child’s account and allocated against excursions as they occur.

Payment can be made by cash, EFTPOS or direct deposit. If you require any

more information, please see the front office.

Will your children be returning to the school in 2015?

If you are moving and your children will not be attending Endeavour Schools in 2015 please inform the school as soon as possible or fill in this form and return it to the front office so that we can start planning our classes for next year. One Hit Wonders Concert For all Kindy - Year 7 students

Wednesday, 3rd December 2014

Families will be welcomed back to school from 4pm to this smoke free and alcohol free event which will be held on the oval

at the rear of the Science Room.

We hope the evening timeslot of the concert provides an opportunity for you to invite extended family to watch our students

perform some popular One Hit Wonders.

Feel free to bring a picnic blanket to sit on. People with chairs are asked to sit at the rear.

Volunteers from Endeavour Schools P & C will be selling Sausage Sizzles, tea & coffee from 4 - 6pm

and cold drinks throughout the night. Sausage Sizzle order forms are available at the front office.

Year 6 and 7 Graduation Ceremonies

As part of our Year 6 and 7 Graduation Ceremony we present a hamper to the Lions Club of Port Kennedy which they gratefully receive. We would appreciate

any donations of non-perishable, in date items of food. Please place your items in the basket located at the front

office. Thankyou.
