End User Workstation Requirements for Marsh ClearSight & Marsh ClearSight apps, Enterprise, STARS Discovery, STARS Intake

This document lists operating systems, browsers, and other components required for use of the version 16.1 release of the following Marsh ClearSight products:

Marsh ClearSight (Community, Insights, App Center) and Marsh ClearSight apps are developed for use with desktop, laptop, and mobile device internet browsers. Register for an account and log in to Marsh ClearSight at https://my.marshclearsight.com.

Enterprise (includes the Marsh ClearSight Enterprise app) work best when accessed from desktop or laptop internet browsers.

STARS Discovery is designed for use with the Apple® iPad® and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store®.

STARS Intake can be used with iOS and Android-based mobile devices. It is available for download from the Apple App Store or the Google Play™ store.

Marsh ClearSight reserves the right to amend this document based on testing performed during development of this release and all future releases.

Marsh ClearSight, Marsh ClearSight Apps & Enterprise Requirements (SaaS) Use of Marsh ClearSight, Marsh ClearSight Apps & Enterprise requires an active internet connection. Any necessary browser configuration and settings changes are covered in “Appendix B: End User Workstation Browser Configuration Guide”.

16.1 End User Workstation Requirements & Configuration

Recommended Internet Connectivity Speeds To handle video or multimedia, Marsh ClearSight suggests a minimum Internet connection speed of 4Mbps down and 2Mbps up* from the end-user’s workstation (cable internet-class speeds or better). For most images, .pdf, and other document files, Marsh ClearSight suggests a minimum Internet connection speed of 1.5Mbps down and .75Mbps (or 750kbps) up* (good DSL-class speeds or better). Internet Connectivity Speeds may be tested using various publicly-available Internet speed-testing websites such as speedtest.net to either Chicago, USA or to London, UK depending on the client’s hosted geography. *Connectivity speeds are historically measured in bps or bits per second.

STARS Discovery & STARS Intake Mobile Device Requirements (Native) STARS Discovery was developed for use with the Apple® iPad® and is available from the Apple App Store®. The application is compatible with Enterprise 16.1 using the software listed below. Other versions of Enterprise, Professional Edition (PE), and Audit are not compatible with STARS Discovery. STARS Intake is available from the Apple App Store or the Google Play™ store. It is compatible with Marsh ClearSight 16.1 & Enterprise 16.1 using the software listed below. Other versions of Enterprise, Professional Edition (PE), and Audit are not compatible with STARS Intake.

Appendix B: End User Workstation Configuration Guide Prior to accessing Marsh ClearSight 16.1, Marsh ClearSight 16.1 apps, and/or Enterprise 16.1 (including Enterprise app from My Apps in Marsh ClearSight 16.1), user workstation browser settings must be verified and configured. Enterprise Business Objects users will also need to upgrade the Java version installed on their workstation, then set memory parameters. Browser Settings – Internet Explorer Refer to "Browsers" on Appendix A page 3 for a list of the Internet Explorer® versions compatible with Marsh ClearSight 16.1, Marsh ClearSight apps 16.1, and Enterprise 16.1.

Internet Options General Tab Settings Follow these steps to ensure Internet Explorer opens pop-ups in a new window.

1. From the Tools menu of Internet Explorer, select Internet Options. 2. In the Internet Options window, click the General tab. 3. In the Tabs section, click Settings. (Figure 1)

4. Check to see that the Always open pop-ups in a new window radio button is selected. (Figure 2)

5. Click OK to return to Internet Options.

Security Tab Settings Security - Trusted Sites Follow these steps to add URLs as trusted sites.

1. From the Tools menu of Internet Explorer, select Internet Options. 2. From the Security tab, select Trusted Sites and click Sites. (Figure 3)

3. Add the name of the Enterprise Server as a Trusted Site (see examples that follow) ensuring that the Require Server Verification (https) for all sites in this zone option is not selected. (Figure 4)

The following URL should be added to the list of trusted sites for accessing Data Discovery in Marsh ClearSight apps using Internet Explorer. Refer to "Browsers" on Appendix A page 3 for a list of compatible Internet Explorer versions.

Security - Custom Level Setting for Internet and Trusted Sites Note: You must apply the Custom Level setting changes to BOTH the Internet zone and Trusted Sites zone, regardless of Internet Explorer version. Settings are required for both zones across all Internet Explorer versions.

1. From the Tools menu of Internet Explorer, select Internet Options. 2. On the Security tab, click the Trusted sites icon. 3. On the Security tab, select Custom Level... 4. Ensure that the custom setting is set to Medium (default), as shown below. If not, then select Medium (default). 5. Click Reset... 6. Scroll to the Downloads section. 7. Click Enable beneath Automatic prompting for file downloads (Figure 5).

13. Repeat steps 3-13 of this section to change settings for the Internet zone. 14. Click OK to close the Security Settings - Internet Zone dialog. 15. Click OK to close the Internet Options window.

Note: Security level for this zone for Trusted sites and Internet is now set to Custom. 16. Close the browser and restart Internet Explorer.

Additional Internet Explorer Settings In addition to the settings outlined in the Internet Options section above, the following settings should be configured for workstations with Internet Explorer.

Browser Settings – Firefox To improve Enterprise performance when accessing via Firefox®, users should disable the “Use hardware acceleration when available” browser setting.

Transport Layer Security (TLS) – TLS 1.2 Settings By default, Firefox 43.x supports TLS 1.0, TLS 1.1, and TLS 1.2. As a result, you should not have to make any changes, though you can double-check TLS settings using the steps listed below. Business Intelligence (BI) - Java Upgrades and Memory Parameter Settings Prior to use of Business Objects in Enterprise, the Enterprise app via My Apps in Marsh ClearSight, or the BI Reports Management app (accessible via My Apps in Marsh ClearSight), the version of Java™ installed on client workstations should be verified and upgraded, if necessary. Following upgrade, Java memory parameters should also be set. Refer to this document for assistance.

Upgrade Java Version Upgrade Java versions earlier than 1.7 by installing Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 7 (32-Bit Setup).

As of the publication of this document (01/25/2017), the new version can be accessed using the following URL: http://docs.oracle.com/javase/7/docs/webnotes/install/index.html.

Set Java Memory Parameters Once the installation of Java is complete or if Java version is already version 1.7, you will need to set memory parameters and enable protections.

1. From the Start button on the taskbar, click Control Panel and open Java. 2. From the Java tab of the Java Control Panel, click View… 3. Enter the following into the Java Runtime Parameters field: -Xms1024m -Xmx1024m (see the following figure).
