CBA CBA=Classroom Based Assessment Junior Topic= US Foreign Policy

How the United States government interacts with the world affects people across the globe. You will evaluate a specific U.S. foreign policy based on an analysis of its causes and effects.

Your Task

1. State a position on the effectiveness of a specific U.S. foreign policy that outlines reasons in support of your position.

2. Provide reason(s) for your position that include: 1. An analysis of why the policy was implemented for national and/or

international interests from two or more of the following social science perspectives:

1. geographic 2. cultural 3. political 4. economic 5. sociological 6. psychological

3. An analysis of the effects of the policy including a discussion of: 1. How the policy affected stakeholders in the United States. 2. How the policy imposed costs OR provided benefits for other

nations. 4. Make explicit references within the paper or presentation to

three or more credible sources that provide relevant information AND cite sources within the paper, presentation, or bibliography.

11th grade CBA – Steps 1. Choose a Foreign Policy created/carried out

during the Cold War. (we are all going to focus on the Cold War time period)

For example: Vietnamization2. State whether or not it was an effective US

Include an analysis of the effects of the policy How it affected stakeholders (define these) in the US How the policy imposed costs OR benefits for other

nations

4. Your paper must include at least 3 primary sources that are cited in your papers

It is important to bring your research to class on June 4th

Process On Thursday May 31st you will have one class

period to gather all of the evidence you will use to write your actual essay. This includes material you can quote from to

support your argument (primary and secondary material)

On Monday June 4th you will have one class period to write the CBA.
