Current R&D focus & vision

GNSS applications require navigation and communication.

GNSS service providers have no major concerns related to the current and future satellite navigation systems, hardware and services (GPS, EGNOS, GALILEO).

GNSS service providers face major challenges related to bidirectional wireless communication systems:

Telecom operators are not investing in return link data communication services.

Terrestrial (mobile) operators: incomplete coverage, high roaming charges, technical differences, intransparent service, lack of integration

Satellite operators: insufficient bandwidth, lack of integrated solutions, device cost, device power limitations, regulations

Critical R&D areas:

Return link wireless technologies

Interoperable devices + integration of wireless standards

Terminal and antenna technologies

RFID technologies

Telecom operators need to be encouraged to provide transparent (forward and return link) broadband data services to GNSS service providers

1st Symposium, Oct 2006

EuroTeleServ stands for the transformation of public funding into economic value

More than 150 organisations have joined a

series of workshops and R&D projects

A coherent approach can only be achieved by

champions, frontrunners and individuals who are actively committed to organising the

innovation process
