Operation

• Whenpositioningthemonitor,makesurethepowerplugandoutletareeasilyac-cessible.

• IfturningoffthemonitorbydetachingthepowercableorDCpowercord,waitfor6secondsbeforeattachingthepowercableorDCpowercordfornormaloperation.

Maintenance

• Toprotectyourmonitorfrompossibledamage,donotputexcessivepressureontheLCDpanel.Whenmovingyourmoni-tor,grasptheframetolift;donotliftthemonitorbyplacingyourhandorfingersontheLCDpanel.

• Unplugthemonitorifyouarenotgoingtouseitforanextensiveperiodoftime.

• Unplugthemonitorifyouneedtocleanitwithaslightlydampcloth.Thescreenmaybewipedwithadryclothwhenthepowerisoff.However,neveruseorganicsolvent,suchas,alcohol,orammonia-basedliquidstocleanyourmonitor.

• Toavoidtheriskofshockorpermanentdamagetotheset,donotexposethemonitortodust,rain,water,orexcessivemoistureenvironment.

• Ifyourmonitorgetswet,wipeitwithdryclothassoonaspossible.

What is On-Screen Display (OSD)?

On-ScreenDisplay(OSD)isafeatureinallPhilipsLCDmonitors.Itallowsanendusertoadjustscreenperformanceorselectfunctionsofthemonitorsdirectlythroughanon-screeninstructionwindow.Auserfriendlyonscreendisplayinterfaceisshownasbelow:

Remove the Base Stand

Beforeyoustartdisassemblingthemonitorbase,pleasefollowtheinstructionsbelowtoavoidanypossibledamageorinjury.

1. Placethemonitorfacedownonasmoothsurface,takingcaretoavoidscratchingordamagingthescreen.

2. Detachthebasestandawayfromthebasecolumnby:

(1)Useyourfingerstoloosenthescrewlocatedatthebottomofthebase.

(2)Gentlymoveup-and-downtoreleasethelatchthatlocksthebaseandpullthebaseawayfromthebasecolumn.

3. TheSmartImageLiteonscreendisplaywillremainonscreenfor5secondsoryoucanalsopressOKbuttontomakeconfirmation.

4. WhenSmartImageLiteisenabled,thesRGBschemeisdisabledautomatically.TousesRGByouneedtodisableSmartImageLitewiththe buttonatthefrontbezelofyourmonitor.

Exceptusing keytoscrolldown,youcanalsopress buttonstochooseandpressOKbuttontoconfirmselectionandclosetheSmartImageLiteOSD.

Therearethreemodestobeselected:Standard,Internet,Game.

• Standard:Enhancestextanddampensbrightnesstoincreasereadabilityandreduceeyestrain.Thismodesignificantlyenhancesreadabilityandproductivitywhenyou'reworkingwithspreadsheets,PDFfiles,scannedarticlesorothergeneralofficeapplications.

• Internet:Thisprofilecombinescolorsaturation,dynamiccontrastandsharpnessenhancementtodisplayphotosandotherimageswithoutstandingclarityinvibrantcolors-allwithoutartifactsandfadedcolors.

What is it?

SmartImageLiteprovidespresetsthatoptimizedisplayfordifferenttypesofcontent,dynamicallyadjustingbrightness,contrast,colorandsharpnessinrealtime.Whetheryou'reworkingwithtextapplications,displayingimagesorwatchingavideo,PhilipsSmartImageLitedeliversgreatoptimizedmonitorperformance.

Youwantamonitorthatdeliversoptimizeddisplayallyourfavoritetypesofcontent,SmartImageLitesoftwaredynamicallyadjustbrightness,contrast,colorandsharpnessinrealtimetoenhanceyourmonitorviewingexperience.

How does it work?

SmartImageLiteisanexclusive,leadingedgePhilipstechnologythatanalyzesthecontentdisplayedonyourscreen.Basedonascenarioyouselect,SmartImageLitedynamicallyenhancesthecontrast,colorsaturationandsharpnessofimagestoenhancethecontentsbeingdisplayed-allinrealtimewiththepressofasinglebutton.

How to enable SmartImage Lite?

What is it?

UniquetechnologythatdynamicallyanalyzesdisplayedcontentandautomaticallyoptimizesaLCDmonitor'scontrastratioformaximumvisualclarityandviewingenjoyment,steppingupbacklightingforclearer,crisperandbrighterimagesordimmingbacklightingforcleardisplayofimagesondarkbackgrounds.

Why do I need it?

Youwanttheverybestvisualclarityandviewingcomfortforeverytypeofcontent.SmartContrastdynamicallycontrolscontrastandadjustsbacklightingforclear,crisp,brightgamingandvideoimagesordisplaysclear,readabletextforofficework.Byreducingyourmonitor'spowerconsumption,yousaveonenergycostsandextendthelifetimeofyourmonitor.

How does it work?

WhenyouactivateSmartContrast,itwillanalysethecontentyouaredisplayinginrealtimetoadjustcolorsandcontrolbacklightintensity.Thisfunctionwilldynamicallyenhancecontrastforagreatentertainmentexperiencewhenviewingvideosorplayinggames.

3.3 Philips SmartControl Lite

ThenewSmartControlLitesoftwarebyPhillipsallowsyoutocontrolyourmonitorviaaneasytouseon-screengraphicinterface.Complicatedadjustmentsareathingofthepastasthisuserfriendlysoftwareguidesyouthroughfine-tuningresolution,Colorcalibration,Clock/Phaseadjustments,RGBWhitepointadjustment,etc.

• Acheckedboxenablesthefeature.Thecheckboxisatoggle.

• EnableContextMenuondesktopischecked(On)bydefault.EnableContextmenudisplaysSmartControlLiteselectionsforSelectPresetandTuneDisplayinthedesktopright-clickcontextmenu.DisabledremovesSmartControlLitefromtherightclickcontextmenu.

• EnableTaskTrayiconischecked(On)bydefault.EnablecontextmenushowsthetasktraymenuforSmartControlLite.ArightclickonthetasktrayicondisplaysthemenuoptionsforHelp,TechnicalSupport,CheckforUpgrade,About,andExit.WhenEnabletasktraymenuisdisabled,thetasktrayiconwillonlydisplayEXIT.

Task Tray Menu Enabled

Thetasktraymenucanbedisplayedbyright-clickingontheSmartControlLiteiconfromthetasktray.LeftClickwilllaunchtheapplication.

The task tray has five entries:

• Help-AccesstoUserManualfile:OpenUserManualfileusingthedefaultbrowserwindow.

• TechnicalSupport-displaysthetechsupportpage.

PowerSensorisauniqueenvironmentallyfriendlytechnologyfromPhilipswhichenablesusertosaveupto80%ofpowerconsumption.InlinewithPhilip’sSenseandSimplicityPromise,thisuserfriendlytechnologyworksforyourightoutoftheboxwithoutanyhardwareorsoftwareinstallation,andwithoutanyuserinterventioninthedefaultmode.

How does it work?

• PowerSensorworksonprincipleoftransmissionandreceptionofharmless“infrared”signalsinordertodetectuser-presence.

• Whentheuserisinfrontofthemonitorthemonitoroperatesnormally,atthepredeterminedsettingsthattheuserhasset-i.e.Brightness,contrast,color,etc.

• Assumingthatthemonitorwassetto100%ofbrightnessforexample,whentheuserleaveshisseatandisnolongerinfrontofthemonitor,themonitorautomaticallyreducesthepowerconsumptiondownto80%.
