Founded in 1848, the Tiefenbrunner Castel Turmhof Winery owes its name to the ancient castle known today as the home of the Tiefenbrunner family. The winery is in the hamlet Entiklar, in the town of Kurtatsch, which is in the South Tyrolean province of Bozen amid the awe-inspiring Italian Alps. Tiefenbrunner produces over 20 types of quality wines, and each bottle receives the attentive care of expert winemakers and owners, Herbert Tiefenbrunner and his son, Christof. Many international awards testify to the quality that results from their generations of experience, with the flagship of Tiefenbrunner being the Müller-Thurgau “Feldmarschall.”

FELDMARSCHALL MÜLLER-THURGAU ALTO ADIGE DOC

Alto Adige 2017 6/750ml

The vintage 2017 was temperature wise average, definitely not as hot as 2015 or 2018. The harvest was executed in two passes, the first in the end of September and the second mid-October. This Müller-Thurgau vineyard growing on the Fennberg mountain was, unlike many other areas in South Tyrol that year, spared from hail and frost. Hence, the physiological ripeness was achieved and we were able to harvest healthy grape material apart from the desired noble botrytis in selected areas.

Orma is the acclaimed wine made at a single estate of the same name in Bolgheri, coastal Tuscany’s premier wine village. Originally purchased in the mid-1990’s by Arezzo-born business mogul, Antonio Moretti, Orma is said to be ‘well-born’ due to the estate’s location next to Tenuta dell ’Ornellaia and amid the towering cypress trees of the famed Via Bolgherese. With a profile that finds equilibrium between power and finesse, Orma reflects both the unique terroir and the ambitious spirit of its territory.

The 2017 vintage in Bolgheri is unquestionably a year of great depth. The slightly early spring, but always cool and ventilated, allowed the plants to withstand above average summer temperatures that persisted for long periods of time. Then the harvest, which was a few days early, gave rich and concentrated grapes that guarantee structured and elegant wines, typical of the Bolgheri area.

Poggio Scalette takes its name from the landscape, which is characterized by dry, stone walls supporting terraces on which the vineyards and olive groves are planted. From a distance the impression is of a series of stairs climbing the slopes of Greve. After the death of its previous owner, Poggio Scalette remained abandoned for years until Vittorio Fiore, one of Italy’s most famed winemakers, discovered the property in 1991 with his wife, Adriana. In 1996, 42 additional acres of land became available, enabling them to expand. It was discovered that the plot of land known as Il Carbonaione was the first area to be replanted after World War I (1914 – 1918), which means these vines, more than 90 years old, are a rare example of the original clone of the famous Sangiovese di Lamole variety in the Chianti Classico area.

Capogatto is the Tuscan name for the old method used to train and duplicate the vines in the vineyards, a process technically known as “layering.” This wine is made from equal parts Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot and was inspired by Jurij Fiore’s time studying enology at the Institute of Viticulture in France.

Piantonaia is born from a small historical parcel of Merlot that was being nurtured at the estate for many years. It was the friendship between Vittorio Fiore and Giorgio Pinchiorri, owner of the Michelin-Starred Enoteca Pinchiorri of Florence, that sparked the production and bottling of this small vineyard exclusivly for Enoteca Pinchiorri. This 100% Merlot wine was first bottled in 2000 and now for the first time it is available in the US market.

PIANTONAIA ALTA VALLE DELLA GREVE IGT


2017 production in Tuscany is reduced by up to 30-35% for some producers. The main reason being, there was a long period of drought accompanied by high temperature that in some cases reached and exceeded 104°F. This intense stress on the vines caused a decrease in metabolism and in turn vigor. Despite these stressful environmental conditions, the grape quality is excellent. Concentrations of sugar exceeded norms but at Poggio Scalette the high hills (400-600m ASL) have safeguarded the grapes from the intense heat and quality in the 2017 vintage is supurb with long agebility.

2017 at Tua Rita was characterized by a rainy spring, a mild June, followed by a dry and warm July and August. The good reserve of water in the soil and an early harvest allowed for very concentrated grapes with good acidity and balance.

SYRAH TOSCANA IGT

Toscana 2017 6/750ml

Hand-crafted by the esteemed winemaker Luca d’Attoma, Tua Rita Syrah is a beautiful expression of this noble variety. Yields are kept to a minimum to ensure flavor concentration. Remarkably layered and complex, this Syrah is pure harmony in the glass and a must-have for every collector of fine Tuscan wines.

GIUSTO DI NOTRI TOSCANA IGT


Giusto di Notri is a Bordeaux-inspired blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc, selectively harvested in September. After a gentle pressing, the juice and skins macerate for a lengthy period of 25 – 30 days to add concentration and depth to the final wine. The wine is then aged for 18 – 20 months in French oak barrels and refined six months in bottle before release.

REDIGAFFI TOSCANA IGT


Redigaffi is a breathtaking, iconic wine made entirely from estate Merlot. The perfectly manicured vineyards are planted to ensure low yields and the greatest quality of the grapes. Extra long maceration with the skins and manual, frequent punch downs allow for Redigaffi’s outstanding concentration and complexity. The wine is matured on the lees for eighteen months in French oak barrels and bottled without fining or filtration. The final wine is the flagship wine of the Tua Rita estate.

Argiolas is the foremost wine estate on the island of Sardinia producing archetypal wines from native varietals. Antonio Argiolas, who died in 2009 at the age of 102, inherited seven acres of vines from his father in 1938 and was the first on the island to convert to modern viticulture to pursue quality over quantity. His sons, Franco and Giuseppe, replanted the vineyards in the 1980s with the goal of reducing yields and focusing exclusively on Sardinian grapes. Joined by enologist Mariano Murru, the Argiolas family is today recognized as Sardinia’s leading wine producer.

2015 in Sardegna was an optimal growing season with a warm summer—and with enough rain in August that provided perfect ripening. The 2015 vintage could be the best year of the millenium.

Galardi is run by an enthusiastic group of dedicated cousins: Maria Luisa Murena, Arturo and Dora Celentano, and Francesco Catello. The estate is firmly committed to making wine of the highest quality and has reaffirmed this commitment by hiring the distinguished oenologist, Riccardo Cotarella, who shares their philosophy. Together they strive to maximize the intrinsic characteristics of native grapes Aglianico and Piedirosso through attentive and careful vineyard management.

TERRA DI LAVORO ROCCAMONFINA IGT

Campania 2017 6/750ml

Climate in 2017 was perfect for the production of high quality grapes and the results are fully in line with the expectations that arise after the maturation of perfect grapes for the harvest. We hope that the vintage 2017 of the Terra di Lavoro will be remembered as the best ever, such as the 1997, 2001, 2004 and 2010.

Proprietress Silvia Imparato indulged in wine as a hobby until she decided to rebuild her family’s vineyards in Montevetrano, in the oft-underestimated region of Campania. She employed the skills of highly regarded winemaker Riccardo Cotarella and they have created an outstanding icon wine they decided to name Montevetrano.

MONTEVETRANO COLLI DI SALERNO IGP

Campania 2017 12/750ml

In 2017 the season was extremely dry, with no rain from January through the end of September, when a moderate rain assisted in the complete ripening of the grapes. The vintage was very long, some vineyards were harvested up to 5 times to pick the grape at the very best moment; in the end the fruit was excellent, concentrated and rich.
