Dental whitening in a case of staining due to tetracycline ingestion

Blanqueamiento dental en caso demanchado por ingestión de tetraciclinas

CLINICAL/RADIOGRAPHIC EXAM EXAMEN CLÍNICO/RADIOGRÁFICOA clinical examination was performed with tests of vitality, occlusion and photography. Once the examination was completed, it was diagnosed as a case of moderate tetracycline discoloration, which ranged from light yellow to brown shades. With the authorization of the patient, the treatment was carried out.

Se realizó examen clínico complementado con pruebas de vitalidad, oclusión y fotografía. Una vez concluida la exploración, se diagnosticó que este era un caso clínico de descoloración moderada por tetraciclinas, el cual presentaba un color que va desde el amarillo claro a marrón. Con la autorización del paciente se realizó el tratamiento.

TREATMENT TRATAMIENTOAfter a complete anamnesis, clinical exam and diagnostics, it was decided to perform two initial sessions of in-office whitening with a high-concentration hydrogen peroxide whitening gel (Whiteness HP) without physical activation through light. This was followed by an at-home phase with customized trays with carbamide peroxide at low concentration (Whiteness Perfect at 16%) for 2 weeks. The shade was registered at the beginning and at the end of each in-office session as well as at every weekly control appointment during the at-home whitening treatment.

Después una completa anamnesis, examen clínico y diagnóstico del paciente, se decidió realizar dos sesiones iniciales de blanqueamiento en consultorio con producto de alta concentración de peróxido de hidrógeno (Whiteness HP) sin activación física a través de luz, seguido de una fase casera con férulas personalizadas con peróxido de carbamida de baja concentración (Whiteness Perfect al 16%) durante 2 semanas. Se registró el color al principio y final de cada sesión en consultorio; así como en cada control semanal de blanqueamiento casero.
