1981Partnership Firm started 1982Contract for Mining from ECL, IISCO and NEC 1993Amendment in Coal Mines (Nationalization) Act - captive coal mining for generation of power, production of cement etc allowed 1996EMTA entered into Joint Venture with West Bengal State Electricity Board (WBSEB) and West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) for coal production and supply 1997The first captive coal mine in India for power sector commenced operations at Tara Coal Mine 2000The mine achieved its initial target coal production of two million ton. Current production is 4.21 million ton. 2004Joint Venture formed with Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) for supply of coal. EMTA became the largest private coal producer in the country with four million ton of coal production 2005Joint Venture formed with Karnataka Power Corporation Limited (KPCL) for supply to coal 2006Work commenced at Pachwara, Pakur for production of coal for PSEB 2007Work commenced at Baranj coal blocks, Nagpur in the state of Maharashtra for supply of coal to KPCL 2008Joint Venture formed with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) and Tenughat Vidyut Nigam Limited (TVNL) for coal mining

EMTA takes the responsibility to mobilize the entire project cost of the above captive coal mining projects which include investment in:

1. Purchase of Geological Report 2. Purchase of Land-Government vested, private & forest. 3. Cost of Preparation of Project Report & Mining Plan. 4. Cost of Rehabilitation of the habitants affected by the project. 5. Construction of necessary infrastructural facilities in the nature of Railway Siding, Haul Roads inside the mines, pitheads, etc. 6. Residential quarters for operational personnel, administrative buildings, etc. 7. Procurement of HEMM

EMTA has got Stage I clearance for all the above blocks. Land Acquisition is in the final stages. For Panchwara (north) conditional Mining lease also obtained.

Between 2013 ~ 2016, EMTA proposes to buy 120+ 100T class Dumpers, 15 cum Shovels, D8 and D 10 class TTTs average 5~6 units per year plus support equipment for these upcoming projects.
