Problem Specifications and Background

Perth Amboy Medical Center is a doctor practice that is trying to update their paper base practice to use electronically medical records. Since they had a recently accident in their office where part of the practice almost was destroyed by a fire, (luckily the fire fighters arrived on time and most of the patient record paper were saved) some of them got damage with the water. There has been slow progress toward recovery; therefore, the practice is looking forward to the implementation of electronic medical records so that in any disaster event the business will not be struggling in the recuperation of the patient medical records. All the history of the patients will be safely store in computers that are regularly back up. The only background given is that the center is a medium practice of five doctors attending five thousand patients per year; there is not a Practice Management System, nor a billing, or scheduling system in use in the location.

The structure of the practice is describe as follow: is a two floor building with a pediatric, internal medicine, a dentist and a lab department making a total of twenty two rooms in the location including the front desk the cashier and the administrative offices.

7 Ability to generate and transmit permissible prescriptions electronically (eRX), which it is a benefit for your patients because they would not have to go to the practice, instead they just have to pick up the prescription in their pharmacy.

1.2 Implementation Overview:

Proper implementation and training is a critical aspect of every installation. Our implementation personnel work closely with our clients to create a plan identifying the client needs and priorities. Ultimately, each client receives a Project Plan design to fit their specific needs; therefore, a different plan will be use for different practices according to the incorporating number of locations, providers, end-users, and specialties.

The Implementation Process begins when EMR Practice Solution signed the contract with the client.

A Practice Assessment will be schedule for the Center to check the type of practice, background (I.e. commitment to EHR, experience with technology etc.) to review and discussed their billing information, staff, patient volume, software and hardware in use. Special requirements and custom features are discussed in detail at this time as well.


Once the specifications have been defined, the designing work begins. On-site workflow analyses are done by members of the EMR Practice Solution Project Team to understand the current workflows, assess IT needs such as hardware, devices, interfaces, etc., and recommend strategies for a smoothly transition to a paperless environment. Workflow diagrams are created to utilize during end-user training as well.


Network Redesign

The next step is a series of different activities like data migration, practice hardware deployment, checks network, and the software application is installed; interfaces are defined and installed as well. This step includes testing of any enhancements, interfaces, or templates, and training sessions for the users. This phase also allows any changes to be made prior to end-user go-live.

Go-Live date, which is when the practice is fully implemented and ready to use the electronic medical record system. In this phase the practice will be ready in the event of any disaster and eventually exchange information with all the hospitals and practices that use Electronic Health Record because our software is compatible with most of the software that are available in the market.


Once the go-live has been completed, the Team revisits the practice locations to assess how progress has been made and to check if the software is fully used, as it is suppose to be used. This allows any changes to be made quickly in the event is needed and keeps the client on track to reach their expectative. This post-Implementation Support is offered according to the practice needs.
