EMR3 Electronic Meter Register

Next generationelectronic meter register systems

The Veeder-Root EMR3

The new electronic meter register, the EMR3, has been designed and manufactured by the Veeder-Root Company, which for several generations has provided the world withthe industry standard mechanical register for fitting to flow meters of various types and technologies.

The Components

The basic EMR3 consists of the central control unit - the Interconnect box or IB - connecting to either one or twodisplay heads which are the actual registers. These may be mounted on the flow meter in the traditional way or beinstalled separately away from the flow meter and fed from a remote pulse transmitter mounted on the meter.Options to the system include a printer, a compact alphanumeric keypad, temperature sensor for temperature com-pensation, currency facility, pneumatically operated preset, remote pulse transmitter and a fully functional remotedisplay & control unit.

The Display Head

The standard EMR3 comes in the familiar Veeder-Root housing so physically replacingthe V-R mechanical register is both economic and simple and just a case of unbolting theold unit and bolting on the EMR3. Where installations utilise the mechanical pre-set thecustomer may choose to use the existing mechanical linkage/valve arrangement with thepneumatic pre-set option or if the budget is available, fit new electromagnetic valves. The EMR3 also offers the alternative of being remotely mounted to the flow meter asrequired by some truck, aviation and loading depot applications.

The Interconnect Box (IB)

The EMR3 has at its heart the Interconnect Box (IB) which is the interface to the outside worldas well as being the central control of the system. One IB can handle two separate display headswhether these are primary heads or remote displays. It also provides the intrinsically safe sup-ply which powers the display heads. Communication ports are available for connection to on-board computers, wireless interfaces, RS 232 & 485 devices and pulse outputs. The IB incorpo-rates relays for two-stage flow control and has a non-volatile memory capacity of the last 200transactions. Up to 16 IB’s can be connected together on the IB giving a maximum networkcapacity of 32 meters.

Remote Display

The Intelligent remote display functions in the same way as the conventional or primary display, therefore allowing the fueling operation to be controlled from either. It can alsobe configured as the primary display when operated in conjunction with a remote pulsetransmitter installed on the flow meter. Both types of display unit store the last 50 trans-actions in non-volatile memory as well as incorporating a rate of flow indicator.

EMR3 Display

The EMR3 has a unique display providing the operatorwith all information at a glance — no change of screens— and is backlit to allow easy vision in dark or poor lightconditions. The display is Nitrogen filled so the commonproblem of the screen misting up is alleviated. It is truly anall weather display.

Printer

The EMR3 uses either the industry standard compact Epson slip printer or the Epsonroll printer. The printouts are fully selectable during set-up from 75 lines of dataincluding the Customers own input and can be configured to suit most stationery. The comprehensive pricing, discount and taxation menus allow these printouts toduplicate the Customer’s various accounting requirements and practices.

In addition, the EMR3 may be connected to the Veeder-Root TLS 350R or 350+ automatic tank gauge for enhanced fuel

monitoring, stock reconciliation and fuel tracking capabilities.

The EMR3 has been used successfully throughout a wide range ofindustries and in the short time since its release into the market hasalready clocked up thousands of installations worldwide.

Veeder-Root offers the most cost effective register solution available in today’s market.

Enhance Your Back Office Communications

The EMR3 can transmit data via the IB to an in-cab printer&/or by using hand held devices, RF communications orother such data transferring medium, to the customersback-office PC.
