A recent national poll of teenagers reveals the need for the Empowered Through Ethics program and the ethical decision-making skills it fosters. The 2007 Junior Achievement/Deloitte Teen Ethics Survey found that while most teens (71%) feel fully prepared to make ethical decisions in the workplace, nearly 40 percent say it is sometimes necessary to cheat, plagiarize, lie or even behave violently in order to succeed. The significant gap between teens’ perceived readiness to make ethical decisions in the workplace and their actual behaviors today represent a worrisome trend. Students are also weighing in on who they deem ethical. The same poll found that of teens surveyed 39% believe business leaders behave unethically, 41% believe professional athletes behave unethically and 64% believe politicians behave unethically. <INSERT NAME, COMPANY AND TITLE> is leading the effort to implement the Empowered Through Ethics program. <NAME> and more than 150 other Richmond area top level executives will visit with nearly 4,000 students in high school classrooms in the Greater Richmond area on October 20 and October 21. Business Leader Takes Ethics Message to Local High School Students
