Bleasdale School is an outstanding school that caters for pupils aged 2 to 19 years with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties some with ASD and a minority with challenging behaviour. The school is a specialist day school with a small number of residential places. There are approximately 35 pupils.
The school is situated in the picturesque village of Silverdale and is housed in two buildings and has its own grounds as well as access to this area of outstanding natural beauty.
The school provides a catering service to its pupils and from April 2015 will be taking over the management of this service itself. We are therefore seeking two caring and dedicated individuals to run our kitchen for us.
If you are somebody who cares and takes pride in producing tasty fresh food with a home cooking style we would like to invite you to apply to become part of the Bleasdale staff. We are looking for:
Chef/Cook Manager – Grade 5 Scale Point 17 - 2122.5 hours per week 9am to 1.30pm Monday to Friday plus alternate weekends 10am to 6pm either Saturday or Sunday. Term time only.Salary £741per month paid over 12 months plus weekend days at time and a quarter, £90 per day.You should be prepared to be self-sufficient and use your own initiative whilst also being flexible in your approach to catering for the pupils and the school’s needs. You will report to the School Business Manager.
You will work on your own to produce lunches for approx. 16 pupils including some with special diets. You will be responsible for producing menus and recipes, ordering, stock control, budget control, kitchen hygiene & health and safety.
NVQ level 3 diploma or 706/1/2 qualifications are desirable but previous experience as a Cook or Chef is essential as is a basic food hygiene certificate. Training will be given on the administration necessary for the role.
You must have a helpful and friendly approach to your work and your customers.
