EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY FINAL FILING DATE: Friday, March 22, 2019 at 5:00PM Building Inspector I/II Hiring Range: $4,026 - $4,429 Monthly + Benefits Hiring Range: $4,400 - $4,840 Monthly + Benefits The County of Yuba is currently recruing for the posion of Building Inspector I/II in the Building Division of the Community Development Services Agency. This posion reports directly to the Supervising Building Official. This class is disnguished from Building Inspector III in that the laer handles the more complex, difficult and/or contenous inspecons. Posions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level if incumbents have met the minimum qualificaons and have demonstrated the ability to perform the responsibilies required at the higher performance level. Inially under close supervision, incumbents learn structural, framing, plumbing, electrical, energy consumpon, disability access, zoning, property usage and occupancy, property maintenance, health and nuisance violaons, abandoned vehicles and related codes and inspecon techniques. As experience is gained, inspecons become more complex and are performed under more general supervision. Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate will have knowledge of the various codes, rules, regulaons, plans and construcon technology as it pertains to the building trade. They have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with developers, property owners, engineers and others to invesgate and resolve complaints. Must be proficient in Microsoſt Office to prepare wrien reports, correspondence and maintain accurate records and documentaon. Required Qualificaons: BUILDING INSPECTOR I MINIMUM: Graduaon from high school and compleon of a Building Inspecon Technology Program from an accredited instuon, or an equivalent Program as determined by the Appoinng Authority and some related experience in the building trades OR Graduaon from high school and possession of the four core I.C.C. Cerficates or equivalent Cerficates as determined by the Appoinng Authority: Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing plus some related experience in the building trades. **Each I.C.C. Cerficates or equivalent Cerficates as determined by the Appoinng Authority can substute for up to 3 months of related experience or for up to 6 months of related educaon in a Building Inspecon Technology Program. PREFERRED: Possession of the four core I.C.C. Cerficates or their equivalent as previously defined or possession of related technical cerficate(s) and at least one year of related experience in the building trades. BUILDING INSPECTOR II MINIMUM: Possession of the four core I.C.C. Cerficates: Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing or their equivalent (Residenal Combinaon Inspector Cerficate); and two years of experience in the inspecon and enforcement of building, zoning and related usage codes at the level of the Countys class of Building Inspector I. Possession of the four core I.C.C. Cerficates, or equivalent Cerficates as determined by the Appoinng Autority: Building, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing; and two years of experience in the inspecon and enforcement of building, zoning and related usage codes at the level of the Countys class of Building Inspector I. PREFERRED: In addion to the II-level minimum, addional years of relevant experience in the building trades. Licenses and Cerficaons: Possess all of the four core I.C.C. Cerficates: Building, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing or their equivalent (Residenal Combinaon Inspector Cerficate) within two years as required by Health & Safety Code Secon 18949.28(a) or subject to dismissal and prior to promong to the Building Inspector II-Level. Maintain professional development and connuing educaon acvies for valid cerficaon as required by posion. The ability to obtain a valid CA Class C drivers license within ten days of employment and maintain throughout employment. Special Requirements: Must successfully complete an extensive and thorough background invesgaon which may include Live Scan Fingerprinng. DMV printout prior to hire. Must file statements of economic interest with the Yuba County Clerk/Recorder. Will be required to perform disaster service acvies pursuant to Government Code 3100-3109. Working Condions: Residenal, commercial, or industrial properes or other facilies under inspecon and potenally under construcon. Work with exposure to potenally hazardous chemicals, uneven foong, inclement weather, temperature extremes, or other potenally dangerous condions. May require work with exposure to potenal hazards at various construcon sites. The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for the position of Building Inspector I/II in the Building Division of the Community Development Services Agency.
