TYPES OF CONTRACT

Explain the following types of contracts, including advantages and disadvantages

Full-time

Full time work is when you have to work at a minimum amount of hours during a set week like 30 – 35 hours and you have to do this though out your contract and also full time comes with benefits according to which company you work with

Part-time

A part time job is just like a full time job but you have to do fewer hours than 30 – 35,

So more like 10 hrs a week and part time only pay a certain amount of money, close to minimum wage

Freelance

A freelancer is mainly a person that works for them self and does everything practical and a good example would be a plumber or a electrician, these types of workers are always completely independent

shift work

Shift work is just when a employee has to work different times through out the 24 hour period and sometimes they can get called anytime so you have to be ready for it and when the employee is not doing anything or he/she is on a break, another employee takes over and dose his/her shift

Permanent

Permanent employment is when an employee has to work a sett amount of hours and days through out the weeks and months, permanent employees also get time off for vacations, get paid and even sick pay and even retirement plans

Temporary

Temporary is just when an employee gets hired but hes only hired for a certain amount of days/weeks/months, he/she is never working for that company permanently

Voluntary

Voluntary work is when somone goes fouth and says that they will work for them for free and help out, this is good because it gives then experience on the job and it gives help to the company

Casual

Casual employment is also known as Contingent Work and this is when there is a relationship between the employer and the employee where there is no set task and no arrangement on how the person is supposed to be working

Hourly paid

Hourly paid work is when an employee gets paid by the hour and has not got a fixed salary and could be working different hours a day for the company

Piecework;

Piece Work is when an employee get a fixed salary to there income and it doesn't matter how many hours he/she does

This is where people go to find jobs if they are struggling to find jobs and some of the advantages are that they can get a small amount of money when they sign up so they can pay for the basics like bills and food and the disadvantage is that it could take a mass amount of time to find the right job

Local & national press

This could be when you see a job advertised in the local news paper or on a window of a corner shop and a advantage could be that there are lots of jobs advertised but a disadvantage could be that all them jobs can goo fast or have lots of people that apply and you cant beat them in the interview

personal contacts & word of mouth

This is when people are talking about a new job that they saw in the local news paper or something and they tell someone that they know is trying to find work and a advantage is that if you know a lot of people then there will be a higher chance of finding a job but a disadvantage is that they job that you were told could be completely different to what you were hoping for

Networking

This is when people advertise jobs on social media like Facebook and twitter and then other people find it and apply, an advantage is that a person finds the job could be looking for that job and it is easy to apply from there or the disadvantage is when people post a job but its not right or its not a job

Internet

This is when companies have jobs listed on there website and you can apply directly from there, an advantage is when you see the job you can click apply and spend 30 mins applying for the job then is done and it would be easy but an advantage could be that you spend 30mins and the website crashes or you loose connection to the internet and you loose the application
