Employee welfare includes anything that is done for the comfort and improvement of employees’ life, and is provided over and above the wages. Welfare helps in keeping the morale and motivation of the employees high so as to retain the employees for longer duration which helps the organization to achieve its goals. Welfare may increase the expenses but it will benefit the organisation in the long run, as it had proved to have direct correlation to productivity, loyalty, industrial relations, discipline and brand image. It is also important for HR managers to understand various social security measures, State and Central government machinery responsible for implementation of various legislations on welfare and social security. Introduction
