Industry News 2014 AOPA National Assembly in Review

The 2014 AOPA National Assembly was a hit with over 2,200 O&P professionals in attendance at the 97th Annual Meeting! Cascade was proud to sponsor this year’s Technical Fabrication Contest and our very own Brad Mattear acted as a judge on the contest board. We send our congratulations out to the

winner of the 3rd Annual Technical Fabrication Contest, Nicole Gibson from the University of Michigan.

The highlight of the show for practitioners was the $5,000 AOPA Cash Give-Away. Erin Cammarata of CBS Billing & Consulting LLC was the

lucky winner! Along with many other contests, the honor of the Lifetime Achievement Award was bestowed upon Karl Fillauer, CPO. Fillauer is one of our longest standing vendors and a valuable contribution to the industry.

Cascade networked with several existing customers and met a lot of new promising customers at the show. We are looking forward to having another successful meeting next year. The 2015 98th National Assembly was announced at the show and will be held at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas, October 7-10th.

Employee Focus

Danielle Lau has joined Cascade part time as the Marketing Assistant. She will be responsible for interfacing with the outside sales team and keeping the department organized! She is currently attending Chico State University and is expected to graduate May 2015 with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and a minor in Project Management. In conjunction with her degree, she will also be completing a Sales Program. We are excited to welcome her to our growing Sales & Marketing department.

We are pleased to welcome Jodi Wanner to the Cascade team. Jodi joined us in July as the Assistant to the Controller. She came to Cascade from Matson and Isom, a CPA and business advisory firm in Northern California. She has been in the accounting field for over 16 years. She is originally from Long Island, New York and enjoys gardening, camping, and trips to the beach. She and her husband have four kids - two twin daughters in college, one son in high school, and a daughter in preschool.

News from the PresidentThe summer has flown by and Cascade is flying high. We had several record sales days and a record sales month in July – go Team Cascade! We’re also making great progress on our 2014 initiatives. We’ve transitioned customers to our new website and are dialing in our EDI connections with our vendors to streamline operations within the supply chain. We are in the process of automating certain internal functions to help manage the increasing load of transactions. We have also added several new staff members to the team and are working on

additional training programs. All of these quality improvements result in enhanced levels of service and allow us to continue to pursue our vision here at Cascade. We are looking forward to the remainder of the year, please let us know what we can do to help your practice succeed.

Check Out Andy’s Great Legs!Andy May, Cascade’s Pacific Southwest Territory Manager, recently had new custom running and biking legs created to accompany his active lifestyle! Andy’s legs were fabricated by Jeff Deune, the Director of Prosthetics at Ohio Willow Wood. Andy picked out each t-shirt design for Jeff to laminate into the socket. Andy has been Jeff’s patient for the past 15 years and aids Andy in maintaining and improving his athleticism.

Cascade University Launches New ModuleIn an effort to help to provide you with the best customer service and support possible, Cascade has launched the “Cascade University,” an interactive learning management system (LMS) that includes modules ranging from industry nomenclatures to department specific trainings. The LMS will host courses and assessments for the staff and will be a valuable resource for onboarding new employees. These learning modules are a key part of the internal quality initiatives Cascade is committed to in 2014. The newest module added to LMS is prosthetic feet.
