What is the purpose of the calculation policy?
• Meets the expectations of the new curriculum
• Children understand the methods that they use
• To give pupils a consistent and smooth progression of learning in calculations across the school
• Ensure that the children learn new methods of calculation which are more efficient than the previous one
How is the policy organised?• Organised according to age expectations
• Where appropriate uses equipment to reinforce understanding
• Focuses on mastery of the age expectation rather than rapid progression to above year groups.
• Clear links to methods in the previous year group
