    BISHOP, PNOY M.U.

pangunguna nina CBCP President at Tandag Bishop Nereo Odchimar, Ricardo Cardinal Vidal, Bishop Luis

Management Staff (PMS) Sec. Julia Abad at Health Sec. Enrique Ona.

Truth to say, in this particular case, the silence of these well spread Catholic organizations was

deafening. They were almost all so peaceful and at ease during such a shameful episode in their church,

    ani pa ni Cruz.

    simbahan.

Oh yes, churches are full on Sundays. People frequent novenas and processions in honor of their

favorite saints. But their faith appear both eclectic and superficial while their morals remain juvenile,

talakayin. Baka hindi pa napapanahon sa ating Pangulo na mag-take ng position behind or against RH

    bill, ani Coloma.

Duties of a Wife According to a Wife Forum

First, let us begin with the duty of the wife to the family. She is the one who is in charge of taking care of

what the family eats and wears. A wife will make sure that the house is clean and that it is a pleasant

home to come to. In the modern days, these duties have greatly been redefined and, you will find men

who are actively involved in the above duty. It really does not matter who does it provided you and your

husband are in agreement. Another duty that all women find very pleasurable is to bear offspring.

Perhaps not that pleasurable but, it is the joy of a wife to have little annoying people running around the

house. There is nothing more exciting than looking at your little play. It gives every wife pleasure to

know than they have made a change in the world no matter how little.

THE BILL IS NATIONAL IN SCOPE, COMPREHENSIVE, rights-based and provides adequate funding to the

population program. It is a departure from the present setup in which the provision for reproductive

health services is devolved to local government units, and consequently, subjected to the varying

strategies of local government executives and suffers from a dearth of funding.

The reproductive health (RH) bill promotes information on and access to both natural and modern family

planning methods, which are medically safe and legally permissible. It assures an enabling environment

where women and couples have the freedom of informed choice on the mode of family planning they

want to adopt based on their needs, personal convictions and religious beliefs.

The bill does not have any bias for or against either natural or modern family planning. Both modes are

contraceptive methods. Their common purpose is to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

The bill will promote sustainable human development. The UN stated in 2002 that family planning and

reproductive health are essential to reducing poverty. The Unicef also asserts that family planning could

bring more benefits to more people at less cost than any other single technology now available to the

    human race.

Coverage of RH. (1) Information and access to natural and modern family planning (2) Maternal, infant

and child health and nutrition (3) Promotion of breast feeding (4) Prevention of abortion and

management of post-abortion complications (5) Adolescent and youth health (6) Prevention and

management of reproductive tract infections, HIV/AIDS and STDs (7) Elimination of violence against

women (8) Counseling on sexuality and sexual and reproductive health (9) Treatment of breast and

reproductive tract cancers (10) Male involvement and participation in RH; (11) Prevention and treatment

of infertility and (12) RH education for the youth.

__________________________________________________The Reproductive Health Bill currently being considered by Filipino lawmakers has stirred up significant

debate over its potential to promote economic development and improve access to healthcare,

particularly reproductive healthcare. But one crucial point has been neglected: the Reproductive Health

Bill is essential to remedy egregious violations on Filipino womens international and national legal rights

occurring under restrictive, ideologically driven policies, such as Manila Citys de facto ban on birth

    control.

The Manila City ban on contraception, also known as Executive Order 003, was passed nine years ago by

former Mayor Jose Lito Atienza to effectively prohibit Manila City women - especially poor women -

from accessing all forms of modern contraceptives, condoms, and information necessary to protect their

reproductive health. As a result, women are unable to prevent pregnancy, even when it would jeopardize

their lives, health, or ability to feed their families. The bans devastating impact is nothing short of a deliberate and targeted condemnation of poor women

and their families. For a woman who cannot afford contraceptives, the harsh effect of the ban is felt

every day - when she is forced to limit the amount of rice she can provide for her children, when she is

abused by her husband for declining sex to avoid pregnancy, or when she is forced to endanger her

health with high-risk pregnancies that she could not prevent.

Should the Reproductive Health Bill pass, it would effectively nullify the Manila City ban, as its language

clearly states that any legislation inconsistent with the federal law will be repealed. The Reproductive

Health Bill is a critical opportunity for Filipino legislators to bring the Philippines back into compliance with

its binding human rights obligations--and finally cease the horrific war on women in Manila City.

mother, with all that implies for the survival and development of her other children, born or unborn, is

perhaps the most compelling reason for contraceptive use. This is because saving the life and preserving

the health of a mother confers a triple benefit: it assures the mother's continued economic and welfare

contribution to the family and society; it protects the life and health of the child who is born later, whose

prospects are closely linked to the survival and health of its mother; and it greatly increases the prospects

for survival and development of her living children.

Family planning methods, like vaccines, are used by large numbers of mostly healthy people. to prevent

an unwanted pregnancy, nearly 600 million healthy people use some form of family planning method

dramatic proportions. An important part of HRP's role is, therefore to monitor the safety and effectiveness

sexually active couples can control their fertility in only four ways: periodic abstinence, contraceptionm

sterilization, or abortion. People in all parts of the world who decide to restrict their fertility by one or

more of these methods do so primarily in pursuit of individual and family aspirations-to provide a goodhome, to enhance affection and opportunities for their children, and to increase their chances for

    personal and familial fulfillment.

These aspiration can be frustrated or even crushed by unwanted pregnancy, and, as the figures on

unplanned and undesired fertility attest, people are often unsuccessful in their attempts to prevent births.

    3. The reason behind the comparatively higher abortion rate among immigrant women is unclear.Evidence, however, points in the direction of immigrant status being associated with low education, weak
