Emissions Testing Means Cleaner Air! Most 2011 and newer model year vehicles do not require tesng. Vehicles newer than 1966, but older than 2011, must be tested and must pass the emissions test in order to be registered in the State of Arizona. Pima County inspecons, except for On-Board Diagnosc (OBD) tests, are not valid for registraon in Maricopa County. Emission tesng is required for vehicles registered within designated emission control areas. If your vehicle has not previously required an emission test, is registered outside the area or in a zip code crossing the area boundary (“Code 52”), please visit myAZcar.com to determine if tesng is required using the Address Locator Tool. Also, applicaons for out-of-state, out-of-area, or military exempons are available on the website. For help, call: 1-877-692-9227. If you parcipate in an insurance program that monitors your vehicle’s operang data, be aware that you must remove the “Data Logger” from your vehicle’s Data Link Connector; which is the vehicle’s computer connector. If your vehicle fails an initi al test or a paid re-test, you have the right to a free re-test if you return within 60 days and provide the repair informati on requested on the back of the vehicle inspecti on report.

If your vehicle fails two tests, you may be eligible for a repair waiver for a fee of $15. This repair waiver is valid for the current vehicle registrati on only. Once a waiver is granted, the vehicle is not eligible for future emissions testi ng waivers.
