Welcome to Your New Christian Charm CourseWelcome to Your New Christian Charm CourseWe’re so excited you’re taking this course! This is the fi rst step in a journey of living a life—inside

and outside—that pleases God. We’re going to explore who we are and some dimensions of how God made us. We’ll look at some fun aspects of being girls—our hands, hair, health, clothes, makeup, and manners. (Yes, manners can be fun! ) We also want to shine brightly for God. Isn’t it amazing to think the King of the universe loves us so much that He gave His Son for us? That makes us princesses. Yes, we are precious princesses! As such, we’ll want to develop the charm every princess needs. And being a princess also requires action. We’ll explore how the Holy Spirit’s presence enlightens our hearts and is refl ected in everything we do to help others and glorify God.

No matter how we look on the outside, if we’re not beautiful inside, we won’t radiate and refl ect God’s love. True change occurs when we seek Christ fi rst, listen to Him, study and learn the truths in His Word, and then work His principles and wisdom into our lives.

We Are Wonderfully MadeWe Are Wonderfully MadePsalm 139:13-14 says, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Accepting who we are is important. The fi rst principle to practice is to not compare ourselves to others. That’s a waste of time. What do we gain if we say, “If only I had Rebecca’s hair . . . or Jessica’s eyes . . . or Gina’s body”? Nothing. But what we can do is enhance the positive attributes we have and downplay any perceived negatives.

The fi rst pictures will be how you usually look. These are going to be the “before” pictures to compare with “after” pictures we’ll take later.

Phase IYou’ll be getting two “before” photos taken. For the fi rst one, stand how you usually

do. Be as natural and relaxed as possible.When the teacher handed out the pictures, what did you think? How did your fi rst

pictures turn out? Are you happy with your overall appearance? What do you like? What would you like to improve? (Remember, this is not a critique of your body shape or build, your clothes, or your hairstyle. This is an overall presentation evaluation.)

How we look in the eyes of others is important because our credibility and acceptance are derived this way (fairly or unfairly). But even more important is how we look in the sight of God. He sees into the depths of our hearts. First Samuel 16:7 reminds us, “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD

looks at the heart.” That’s a scary thought, isn’t it?Think about it. Do you want someone to see everything that goes on inside your heart and mind?

We sure wouldn’t. Have you ever gotten angry and wanted someone to fl unk a test or fall down or leave you alone? Have you ever wanted to yell at someone? Those thoughts refl ect your heart condition, as do your positive thoughts. Even though we’re growing through Christ and changing, we’re human so we’re not perfect. The wonderful thing is that God loves us. And He will use each fl aw and imperfection to help us grow.

Okay! Now’s it’s time to get your pictures taken again. While others are getting their photos taken, why not practice the pointers. If you have a camera, take turns taking pictures of you and your friends.

After your teacher handed out the photos, what did you think? Did the posing pointers help you give a better presentation of yourself? Do you like this picture better? The few little tips made a difference in how you look. Let’s put this picture in the before box and at the end of our time together, we will have an even more amazing picture to put in the after box.

How Do We Get T his “New Look”?How Do We Get T his “New Look”?Does this transforming new look in our hearts and lives come through our own abilities and efforts,

just like the changes we’ll be making in our outward appearances? Ephesians 2:8-9 says: “It is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” We can never be good enough to earn salvation or deserve salvation. God offers salvation to us as a gift! If we will repent (turn away from our sins), trust in Christ, and believe in Him, we accept His gift. “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13). Salvation is referred to by many names in the Christian faith—eternal life, being saved, new birth, born again, and regeneration. Can you relate to these comments? (Write down the scriptures your teacher shares.)

know was possible. When Christians told me before that Jesus lives inside people and the Holy Spirit helps people do what was right, it never made sense. Frankly, I didn’t see how God could love me as much as they said He did…but He really does! And now I want to tell my friends about Him! It’s as if someone turned on the lights.

Picture a fast-moving, whitewater river. You’re on one side, and God is on the other. You can jump in and try to swim, but the current will sweep you away after three or four feet. Next envision an Olympic jumper. She tries to jump across but falls short. Next an elderly woman jumps in and is immediately swept away. Who made it across? No one. The Bible says, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). So how do we get to Jesus? First we confess

that we can’t make it on our own. We tell God that we are sinners and make mistakes and go against His principles often.

First, we confess we’re sinners.

Thankfully, God saw that we couldn’t reach Him on our own. He asked His Son, Jesus, to come to earth and pay the price for our sin. We had to be redeemed by Christ’s blood so we could be washed clean from sin and commune with God. The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

Second, we recognize Christ paid the price for our sins.

We are all sinners, but we don’t have to die in our sin. Christ came so that through His death we could live. His sacrifi ce gives us the opportunity to know God personally. The Bible says, “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life”(John 3:16). How short we all fall, but we are still loved by God…and we’re loved regardless of our pasts. What do we need to do to be saved then? Receive Jesus as our Savior, believing in Him and trusting Him to help us surrender to God. Romans 10:9 says, “If you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Third, we accept His Son’s sacrifi ce and believe in Him.

Jesus is standing at your heart’s door right now. Will you let Him come in?

Fourth, we ask Jesus to come into our hearts.

If your answer is yes, you can ask Him to enter your heart today. Simply talk to Him!

Jesus, I humbly confess that I am a sinner. I turn from my sinful ways and ask You for forgiveness and mercy. I believe You died on the cross to take my punishment for sin. I know You rose from the dead , conquering death, and went to heaven to prepare a place for me. I receive You now as my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart. Thank You for loving me and giving me life with You forever. Amen.

You’ve taken a huge step in your life! Congratulations. You won’t regret it. And you’ve taken an important step in the development of inner beauty. Make sure you share your new decision with your teacher and your Christian friends. They’ll be so excited for you!

life that comes with accepting Jesus. Knowing Christ doesn’t make your life perfect or easy. There will still be hard times, but now you can ask Jesus to help you! He will be with you every minute of every day and night.
