Tournament Update They said it could not be done…but you proved them wrong today…all groups finished within the 4 and a half hour standard. I cannot thank each and every one of you enough for your effort. Now that we know we can do it, this is our standard for EMGA tournaments.

Today was the make up for our Stableford Tournament and it was good to get back on the Blue Course which was in excellent shape thanks to the EGC maintenance crew. Also, my thanks to the EGC for changing the venue. As always, our congratulation to the winners, which are listed below. Scores listed below are Stableford scores.

Just a reminder, when you come off the course, please bring your scorecard to the Senior Locker Room before you go to the parking lot.

Kregel Championship Tournament

The first round of our Kregel Championship will be on 30 July. In order to play for prizes, members will have to have previously played in four EMGA events. These events are: Home and Away, Match Play, OP/OPC and named tournaments. Early on, one of our members asked if H&A was considered two events. The answer the TD meant to say…was…no. If you are the one who asked the question, no is the proper answer. We will use the EMGA Member roster provided by Don Mau as our source document to determine player qualification. We will allow members who do not meet this standard to play for skins and scores but not prizes. Also, we will assign tees based upon individual HI’s. Match Play We've completed all the quarter-final matches in all flights and are now down to semi-final matches which must be completed by July 15th. In the Arnold Palmer Flight it's Floyd Smith vs. Tom Baltuskonis and Al Sellers vs. Rusty Reed. In the Jack Nicklaus Flight it's Willie Silva vs. John Tucker and Steve Dehaven vs. Phil Sosalla. In the Lee Trevino Flight it's John Chambers vs. Don Knight and Bob Maness has already defeated Dave Ross 2 & 1. Eisenhower Invitational On Monday, July 27th we will be hosting the 3rd annual Eisenhower Invitational where there will be 5 teams competing for the Invitational Trophy. The Broadmoor, Kissing Camels, Colorado Springs, The Country club of Colorado and Pueblo CC will send their professional, superintendent and 18 members. This is an annual event and is an opportunity to meet some new people and enjoy some spirited competition. The 20 person team format will be 6 low net and 6 low gross. USGA Handicap required. If you are interested in playing please call the shop at 333-2606. I imagine the spots will go quickly as there are only 18 (plus standbys). The cost is $50 p/p ($30 for option 3 members.) Home & Away We completed the second half of our Perry Park Country Club Home and Away match at the Eisenhower Golf Club Silver Course on Monday, 22 June, and bested Perry Park Country Club 20.5 to 6.5 points. Even though Perry Park won the away match on 16 June 16.0 to 11.0 points, the EMGA team won overall bragging rights for the year 31.5 to 22.5. The EMGA team of John Szostak and Detlef Sarbok won first place in the Best Ball competition with a net score of 61, worth $80 in pro-shop credit. In addition, the EMGA teams of Kevin Alldredge and Clare Sumner took third place with a net score of 64 worth $30 in pro-shop credit and Mark Craig and Don Uhl took fourth place (in a four card tie) with a net score of 65 worth $20 in pro-shop credit. EMGA winners in the skins competition included John Szostak (holes 12 net, 13 gross and 18 net) and Clare Sumner (hole 16 gross) worth $22.50 each. The EMGA team for the Colorado Springs Country Club Home and Away match will play at home on Tuesday, 30 June at 8:00 AM (with a 7:00 AM show time) on the Blue Course wearing white shirts. We play at Colorado Springs Country Club, on Thursday, 2 July at 8:30 AM (with a 7:30 AM show time), wearing Blue shirts. We will be using the 15 June revision of the GHIN system for both ends of the event so that the Colorado Springs Country Club staff doesn’t have to scramble to adjust handicaps two days after the 1 July revision and so that we use the same index at both places. The team consists of Phillie Ah Yo, Phil Andreski, Larry Arkfeld, Russ Baker, Marty Bunker, Pat Burke, Bob Muldrow, Bob Mutu, Patrick Sheehy, Floyd Smith, Fred Steffers, Clare Sumner, Pat Swenson, Michael Trivette, Don Uhl, and John Weidner with 1st Alternate Kevin Alldredge and 2nd Alternate John Tucker. The EMGA team for The Club at Pradera Home and Away match will play at home on Monday 13 July, at 8:00 AM (with a 7:00 AM show time) on the Silver Course wearing white shirts. We will play at The Club at Pradera, on Wednesday, 15 July at 8:30 AM (with a 7:30 AM show time), wearing Blue shirts. We will be using the 1 July revision of the GHIN system for both ends of the event so that The Club at Pradera staff doesn’t have to scramble to adjust handicaps on the day of event and so that we use the same index at both places.
