WARNINGS

Engine inlet area is ingestion hazard while engine is operating. Personnel must not go into engine inlet hazard area. Personnel must use caution when near engine inlet hazard area. Failure to comply can result in injury or death to personnel and/or damage to aircraft and/or equipment.

Very high noise level can occur. Personnel must wear hearing protection. Failure to comply can result in injury to personnel.

Wheels/tires can blowout. Personnel must not go near wheels if there is possible hot brake condition. Failure to comply can result in injury or death to personnel.

Tire can blowout. Personnel must stay fwd or aft of tire at all times. Failure to comply can result in injury or death to personnel.

Any successful rescue operation involves expeditious entry to the cockpit area and removal of the pilot from the aircraft.

Rescue personnel shall be familiar with the systems and procedures described in the following slides to ensure quick and safe recovery of the pilot.

The preferred approach path to the aircraft by rescue personnel should be towards the aircraft port side forward fuselage. This section of the aircraft contains the canopy locking and operating mechanisms and will allow for the most obstruction free route for pilot removal from the cockpit.

Cockpit entry is normally accomplished utilizing the boarding ladder. However, use of the boarding ladder during rescue operations may not be advisable due to restrictions to mobility, balance, and leverage of rescue personnel. Rescue crews accessing the cockpit from ground level will require some form of ladder or boarding platform.
