EMERGENCY (Certification) PERMIT Pennsylvania Department of Education Below you will find directions of how to apply for your Emergency Certification. You will need to complete both steps (the online portion and the paper portion). If you have never applied for an emergency certification with State College Area School District before, you need to submit sealed transcripts (showing your Bachelor’s degree) along with your paper form. There is a $5.00 processing fee for the Emergency Certification. Cash is acceptable, but please bring the correct amount, as we may not have change; or you may write a check payable to “State College Area School District”. Step 1: Online Directions Teacher Information Management Systems – TIMS Please go to the PA Department of Education’s website: www.education.pa.gov. If you are not a registered user on the PDE website, you will need to complete the registration. 24 hours after registering, you will be able to access TIMS with your new user id and password. One you have your user id and password, sign in (first time use, you will need to establish a TIMS Profile) and click on Emergency Permit Application in the right column, middle of the page. 1. Answer all background questions and affidavit check area, click “Next”. 2. Demographics, if already filled in, click “Next”. 3. Certification Details, click “Next”. 4. You must choose “Institute Affiliation” & select “State College Area School District” (do a search for “STA”, the State College Area School District will appear for you to select). Click “Next”. 5. Check box to initiate permit request. Once complete your permit information will then be forwarded electronically to the State College Area School District for approval and payment; then submission to PDE. If you see “Congratulations” the process was done correctly. Step 2: Complete the paper form Complete the paper form attached. Submit to State College schools with sealed transcripts (if needed) and $5.00 fee. Section II. 2.
