Healthy Lifestyles Corner

Did you ever think about all the work that our bones do? They help us walk, run, jump, and dance. It’s important to have strong bones because strong bones are less likely to break. In building strong bones, we need calcium, but calcium does not act alone. It is part of a bone building team of nutrients. Other members of the team are protein, and at least 6 minerals and 5 vitamins. Because we need those other minerals and vitamins for calcium to work, it’s important to eat lots of different kinds of foods, including plenty of fruits and vegetables. For more information, tips and a recipe, read the Healthy Lifestyles Newsletter that should arrive in your email inbox soon!

April 22 is Earth Day

Things you can do for the Earth.

• Plant a tree to beautify your neighborhood, provide shelter and food for

birds, and prevent soil erosion. • Gather some friends and clean up garbage at a local park, beach, or

around the school. • Make a plan to produce less garbage by replacing disposable straws,

plastic bags, and water bottles with reusable ones • Or just spend some time outside enjoying nature

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference and you have to decide what kind of a difference you want to make. - Jane Goodall

We are in urgent need of volunteers to help us hang up the students’ art for the Art Fair starting Monday, April 15. Please contact Katrin Csvany at [email protected] for more details. Thank you so much for any time you can give us!
