EMB CALABARZON CELEBRATED ENVIRONMENTAL MONTH
THRU THE CONDUCT OF “SEMINAR FOR TEACHERS”
In line with the celebration of June as Environmental Month, EMB
CALABARZON conducted “Seminar for Teachers” as a medium of the
information dissemination integrated in the ASEAN Environment Year 2015
with theme “Empowering the Youth for a Clean and Green ASEAN” and in the
road map for the implementation of Republic Act No. 9512 otherwise known as
the National Environmental Awareness and Education Act of 2008. The
seminar was conducted on 30 June 2015 at the Bayview Park Hotel, Manila in
cooperation with Nestle Philippines, Inc. and Department of Education
(DepEd).
The seminar aims to undertake a pilot study on Baseline Assessment on
Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development Content
in the Public Elementary and High School Systems and to utulize the said
baseline assessment inlcuding the lessons learned and other areas of
improvement for the entire ASEAN member-states.
The seminar was attended by mostly teachers, Head Teachers and Principals
from various elementary, high school and college public and private schools
from Tagaytay and Bacoor, Province of Cavite, and San Pedro, Biñan, and
Cabuyao, Province of Laguna.

Ms. Rysa Deron, OIC, Legal and EEI Section gave overview on Environmental Awareness and
Education Act otherwise known as R.A. 9512
